Do i role play well?

Because i play an 'evil character', and of late there has been alot of complaints about how people go about doing this, and even though its mostly about godmodders its hard not to acidently godmod to a lesser extent when playing your character means rping alot of physical contact. It always lies heavy on my mind how people view my roleplay because I dont want to turn round one day to find no one wants to rp with me. I know there are lots of threads round here that say how an 'evil character' is to be played well, but as always they are open to interpriation. I've only really once had an OOC complaint but the reason i ask weather i roleplay well is because i get a sense of OOC frustration when i do my 'evil'. So either they are very good RPers or they are getting pissed off at me.

Hoping maybe this thread could be used to discuss all characters on a more personal level about how they RP. But only if they say they are interested in others opinions before hand of course.

So flame away if need be.

AS far as I can tell (please correct me if I'm wrong  ) Narure is not a 'evil' char like in  EVIL , but he's more like an  how to say... he's like a 'pain in the ass' - kinda type, you know some roberies here, murders there, mostly always looking for trouble/fights bla bla bla.

The only kind of RP i dislike, and I haven't seen you doind it, is this 'god-rp' .

So just keep on going doing it! I don't mind (maybe my char, but I don't ).
Although sometimes I can see why peoples can get pissed of OOC, Imageon this:
in RL you are in a pub (or wherever you go) with some friends haveing a blast, the suddenly some Dude shows up and wants to fight you because you accidently bumped into him... In that situation you don't wanna be in, same in PS, your char doesn't wanna be part of it and that's what gets most peoples mad ooc also.. I guess

-btw I don't think there can be real EVIL of real GOOD chars... they jsut stand for different things, the good ones stand for thing the most peoples choose for, the Evil ones stand for thing the less peoples stand for..

You did not start yesterday and never had a major complain. So it shows you managed to play it *your* way. May it be evil or good.
Personaly, I never had the chance to RP with you.  But I saw you in action while being invisible *feels guilty like a voyeur*

The players behind the chars you "annoyed" did probably enjoy it. When I once was a LG char, I had greet fun RPing with evil ones. Not only is it important to know what role you play. To adapt to with who you do it is important as well - if not more. In the variety of PS players, there is no doubt you'll always find pple to RP with.
If your concern is to know if your RP bored pple so much that they will avoid you...the problem is more complex.
On one hand, it's fun to RP a situation with someone who don't simply nods to whatever you say or do.
On the other hand, it can be frustrating not to be able to solve an IC debate without having to spread blood all over the place.
The best way to avoid endless and boring godly pretending is for each one to RP the weaknesses of his char as well as its strengths. If only once you had someone complaining OOC, it's that you managed to achieve this balance most of the times. Keep doing so and even your IG foes are going to appreciate your company.

To me it seems that those with more experience of the game... tend to get less annoyed or upset at us for RPing the thug... and often go along with it. (but I'm not implying that the few who do get upset are 'noobs' either!!)

As long as your RPing suits your character and is believable... it's likely to be good RP.  From what I've seen Narure, you're a good RPer. (and I'm not just saying that because we're allies in-game)

As for not upsetting people OOC... That's probably the only awkward area... but if people get upset with me, I just apologize and let them know OOC that it's nothing personal.. and that my char is just a pain-in-the-posterior. -- And I haven't even needed to do that for months now... that's mainly because I try to keep my RP to people I know.. or at least know have been around a while and are likely to react well.

In most MMO's everyone is on the good side, that's why it's so shocking for many people to encounter "evil" roleplayers.
But that's their problem, I think you're doing a great job

I'd have to say that one of the things evil players need to look out for is the fact that everyone seems to think that evil means annoying. This is not necessarily so. There's a lot more to evil characters than guys who tick everyone off, or run around randomly trying to kill people.

And Narure is Narure. All that is reliving to hear but i don’t think any of you have been on the other end of me robbing you. Though the more i play the more i understand things and adapt the way i roleplay to improve. It seems to me that the people that have been around awhile are now used to the large amount of 'badies' in Planeshift and the newer players, or ones that haven’t quite got into roleplaying just take a very OOC approach to my character, however if i just leave them alone they aren’t going to learn are they? Yes Narure is just a touchy, nasty guy. I originally wanted him to be an assassin, but after joining the outlaws he lost his clam attitude towards violence and now just wants to be the centre of attention. As far as weaknesses go in my opinion its not a good idea to give your characters weaknesses, instead give them just one strength. Makes bar fights (not necessarily physical) more interesting with more getting knocked down and getting back up, meaning more people are likely to get involved, where as when you just stand there and 'effortlessly dodge' everyone will just stand and watch.

Ok I never post or reply on the ps Forum. I avoid it somthing ferce. So that should tell you something Right there. I had the oppertunity to Mix it up with you Rp style.   I have to say It was a very fun I hope to have many more such banter sessions with you. You have to remember not to take the other players banter as a personal attack as well. I always assume everything in In Character unless it is obvious, painfully obvious that it is not. You do just fine and you always seem like your having a Blast doing the RP so no worries.

Heh. Narure and Skatty accosted me in Oja onetime a while back, as I was going by Trasoks. Narure concealed his dagger beneath his cloak, and Skatty circled in flanking me. We played up the bit and it freaked out a new player who I had been talking to. You were actually letting me know about the upcoming race. It was a good bit.
