What no other free games?
« on: February 20, 2003, 10:28:23 am »
Hey people,

Does neone know any other free mmorpgs out there? Don\'t get me wrong im not going away from plane shift, no way, i want to check out other games like these so that if i like a certain feature in one i can give my input to the planeshift team to try and get it included to make it an even better game then it already will be.

I think it would be cool if people posted any free mmorpg games they\'ve played here (even if there only 2D graphical messes) so that everyone can try them out and maybe find a feature they like and post it on the wish list.

So go on what u waiting for post those games!!

If you do find a free MMORPG don\'t expect it to be free forever, it\'s virtually imposible to run one free forever without going broke. If there is one that is free forever it\'s probably a 2d scroller (not even isometric) But hey, those can be just as fun if not more fun then a full 3d one, and they ussually have more features like home owning.

I probably should have looked for this thread first...

Anyway, what would you call Ergonomic?  Certainly not 3d, but not a scroller, either.  But hey, it\'s free!

Hey link it is possible to run a game free forever, look at runescape for instance, it was free for absoloute ages because they had sponsors. Sponsors are the key, get a few up on your site and youve got the server cost right there. The only reason they went p2p is because they hired new people to give the game tons more updates and make a bit of dosh for themselves. Planeshift could possibly be a free game forever (I hope so) if they find enough sponsors or some other sort of money to provide for the servers. As for people to update the game, I dont think they woul need them because if this game is free and its going to be as big as they say it is I\'m sure people wouldnt mind having updates spread out months at a time or even half a year.

No, runescape was free because it was in beta so long, and because of Ads. They didn\'t have alot of people playing so they didn\'t need alot of bandwith. They went P2P because the owner was tired of paying out of pocket, ads produce enough money to buy a 99cent whopper at McDonalds every 2 months. Sure, they will get alot of people donating slow cable connections like they are now, but no one is going to donate an OC256 or something. THe forums are hosted on a donated server and look how crappy they are.

Well right now I am playing Dragon Raja.  It\'s a good game, some bugs, and the translations from Korean are kinda weird.  But the graphics are really good and gameplay is great.  It\'s free but its a huge download.  like 400mb I believe.  Anyway...the link is.....http://www.go-dronline.com

R.u.n.e.s.c.a.p.e   http://www.run.escape.com  (leave the period out. there is a censor that wil make it called runescape.)
Tibia             http://www.tibia.com

They are horrible graphically. Especially Tibia. But, R.u.n.e.s.c.a.p.e 2 is coming out very soon the engine and gameplay will be updated. Stay away from Tibia unless u dont like R.un.es.ca.pe. I think you will become very addicted to Rs. If you need any help Private Message me as Iminem.
