Plagues...yea
« on: February 25, 2003, 10:36:00 pm »
Well, how about in certain areas at certain times, a player can get sick or something and then when they return they bring the sickness with them and it spreads to the people they come in contact with (merchants and the it spreads on)and eventually they get sick and since they dont know what it is they cannot find a cure until someone invents/finds one and if they go too long they will eventually die.

This would give another use for people to study alchemy so they can invent these cures that are needed.  Although it would probably be easier if there were books they could read to tell you how to cure these things, or at least hint at it.

I\'m really bored, the roads are ice so I cannot go anywhere ;(

good idea

make some plagues really bad like your toes fall of and you start flashing green or die or something.... it would open up a new occupation... grave digger.. and healer

That sounds like leprosy. This happened in Morrowind, you could catch like 4 diseases and four plagues. Diseases are easy to cure, plagues had to be cured by a healer. Though the disease never really travelled in Morrowind, I would love to see tons of people getting sick ingame. In UO everyone hung out at Brittain Bank, so if it were in that game, diseases would travel fast, it would be awesome.

I like this idea very much, that way people who arent into fighting wars can help by fighting disease!!!  :))
Name: Frankuuu
Race: Dermorian Elf
Chosen Path: Warrior
Alignment: Neutral
Guild: N/A
Location: Yliakum

I fight for my destiny, if yours crosses mine, the only outcome is for me to prevail, whether you live or not depends on if you get in my way...

Well, that\'s something I would like to see in PS.
I don\'t think that the idea about the toes is very realistic since I doupt that the DEVs is gonna add toes (takes up space and there\'s really no point in it).
The sickness should drain stamina from the PC so that he would be tired all the time. He would see \"stars\", see things that\'s not really there, friends should look like foes in his eyes, he would look horrible etc.

If its able to spread by contact, i think people who are diseased should have guards stop them from coming in populated areas if there are guards by the gates. That way it would help less people get sick and die. But then diseased people could go on little killing sprees, running into populated cities (if they could get in) and making everybody sick . It could be a mass conspiracy that the town healer was paying people to run through making others sick to get more money :D.

See my post \"NPC guild guards\" for more information on this subject.
Don\'t be brash and take that stash of hash you found in the trash, it won\'t get you cash but you will dash out to splash something on the nasty rash it gives you.

Of course you need toes man, Its still a intricate but small part of the game. Its like, not putting the grain on a wood door.

Wow, A crooked healer who made people fatally ill, just to cure them and take their money. Cool. Ailments would probably just affect stat or char appearance, but like in real life, sometimes you just catch diseases for no apparent reason. So if it were snowing ingame, and you went skinny dipping, you could catch a cold.

I\'d LOVE to see some ice-blue skinny dippers while exploring PS. :P
