Problems with running on Mac Platform
« on: November 28, 2006, 03:59:31 am »
Hi All

The screen shots look great - and I'm really excited about possibly running this game.

- However -  I've read through the Mac guide - loaded and updated everything - and used the manual terminal information - but when I click on psclient and psset up nothing happens.   I noticed in the mac guide that after entering the info through the terminal there should be a .app afixed to the files?

I'm not getting that on my end - so maybe that's the problem?  I'm running Mac OS 10.3.9 -

Any help would be great -

Thanks
Paige

We are waiting for an updated Mac client right now. About every two months the client and server go into update. Pay attention to the sticky at the top of this forum. But welcome, and we will be able to play soon.

I don't understand why it takes longer for the Mac one to come out - is it because they had to make the Windows one first, then build the mac version off of that one? but if they're made at the same time why does the Mac one take longer?  ???

Mac code is different to PC code.
Glad to help.

The Mac version needs to be built on a Mac, yes. This one is taking a bit longer because of the holiday, I think, or because something is not fixable readily. It's worth waiting for. Try to read the stickies and search the existing posts before making new and redundant threads, though, otherwise you might get smited.

 dfryer posted this...

I'm stalling a little while I try to stomp out some bugs in code I wrote for a word-wrapping text editing widget which cause some people to crash when the GUI loads.
Glad to help.

Not all the code is different, but there are parts that need 'tweaking' to get running on the Mac. dfryer should get to it soon, we just need to tempt him with enough cookies. :) Hopefully it won't be too long for you guys!

Yes, if he can get all the bug fixes in to your client it'll be better for you arguably :)

You can always compile the mac version yourself, as I did since I was too impatient to wait for an offical release.

If you do decide to try to compile PS yourself for the Mac
