« on: November 29, 2006, 03:17:55 am »
Ok im of course new to planeshift (retired player of shadowbane) and iv been looking at the screen shots and been aching to play this. I got it all setup and now when i try to sign in, I found out the server is down. Does anyone happen to know when it will be up again?

Welcome to PlaneShift!

The server is actually up at the moment - do you perhaps have a firewall or router? If so, make sure that UDP port 7777 is enabled for server Laanx.

Check your router's manual/guide on how to forward or enable ports. If you're not sure where you can find one, post back here with the name and model of your router and we'll see if we can find instructions for ya :)

This one? :]

I've found this page on how to forward ports with that router, and while it's discussing a port for another application, just make sure you're working with the UDP port 7777 when you're making the changes.

The basic procedure should be the same, but I could be totally wrong as well and you'd need someone with a mac to come over to this thread :} Does typing in the address of your router into the browser do anything?

http://www.firewalling.com/asante/fr1004-firewallallow.htm    I found this but i dont understand what goes were im confoozled, If you can help me with this ill be fine.  ::|     And yes thats waht i did is typed in the address, But if you can look at that page and tell me what that all means it would help.   What would i put in the spaces to allow acces to Laanx server?   Like what would the Source IP be for the Laanx? and what would i put under "ports" then destination IP and then "ports" again.

Sure, let me try to break it down:

  • Type in 192.168.123.254 into your browser address bar and hit Enter.
  • If you are prompted for a password and you've never changed it, the default is admin.
  • Click on the Security button on the next window/page.
  • Scroll until you see something like "Inbound Packet Filter," and click on the Configure button next to it.
  • Next you should see form boxes, like Source IP, Ports, etc. For Source IP, put in: 210.193.49.103, and for the port use: 7777. Make sure "Enable" is checked too.
  • Click Save and you should be good to go!

[ As far as I understand, anyway :) ]

Three smilies in a row as max, please ;] They're fun to use, but sometimes a picture is definitely not worth a thousand words.

It could be that the server crashed when you have tried afterwards - or it could be something from your ISP blocking the connection. Go over the router steps one more time if you haven't, just to make sure everything has been entered correctly. I'm also not sure how to ping an IP on the Mac, but if you can try pinging "laanx.fragnetics.com" to see what's up, it might help.
