« on: December 02, 2006, 01:44:58 am »
I suggest a qt4 integration for windows of updater and pssetup.     Il will be more easy and more beautiful.
qt4 is for windows, linux, macOs

If you are referring to QuickTime, then I wonder if they changed their license to GPL or BSD/MIT recently. If they did, then maybe, if not... bad idea to drag non-free stuff into PS, and I hope it'll never even be considered.

I think Seytra is referring to a framework for graphical applications by Trolltech.
I don't really like QT for various reasons. I think the updater doesn't have to look 'beatiful' - it should work, not more, not less ;)

I thought some gnome users were against installing QT, favouring purely GTK.

When you will see KDE 4... You will change!     QT4 is fabulous and very beautiful!

QT4 is :
-multiplatform ( win, linux, mac)
-use css Style, HTML Tag
- Object Programmation unlike GTK+
- use SVG format
- integration of OpenGL ( Google earth is made with qt4)

I just want QT integration for the menu startup of planeshift!  Because the current is not nice and slow!

I will try to make a QT4 planeshift interface demo for you !

I had KDE 4.... I'm back on Gnome

I feel at home in GTK, I'm not that keen on QT.

I think it should be as it is, there is no reason to change it, QT is too overloaded, its coming close to the .net stuff with too many library's that aren't used.

How can you have KDE 4 when it is not released ?
Qt 4 is a great toolkit, with integration for gnome. And a Qt updater is far better than the current (sometimes buggy because of opengl or whatever) updater.
Because an updater isn't the game. You just want to have an updater working and easily maintainable. Qt 4 is a good solution.

GTK doesn't work well on windows and macos, _UNLIKE_ Qt4

Really a nice wxwidgets based updater could be nice... that or we could just fix the current updater..... so that it actually you know... works on most systems in gui mode.
