Bang Bang Maxwell

Now that there are hammers in the game for smithing, i wonder if they couldn't be given speed & slash equal to a simple 'Axe' and be used as weapons, trainers added, etc... it wouldn't make it urgent to have varried hammers sooner, it would just be nice.. sort of like medium armor wiithout pants or gloves...
In anticipation of people saying it's JUST a smith tool or such; the simple 'Axe' is really more of a hatchet & you get to start with skill in axe for being a woodcutter's apprentice, using tools...
If there is some issue with giving a smiting item whatever properties as a combat item then nevermind... But otherwise the answer to this idea's "why?" is because it seems pretty simple, condusive to roleplay if a couple of smiths have a brawl escalating above melee, would quiet silly people thinking they have too much PPs, and would be a good distraction if say a recent update had caused certain spells' new animations to crash a lot of people ... or if a recent update messed up a furnace for that matter... as well as providing a more rounded tool for a beginner who is more focused on crafting-- this would allow them to still train up a skill for fighting--to get the pp needed, and still have an empty inventory to just carry the needed pick, hammer, riveter, gloves, books... apart from loot & materials...
This got way long... Anyway I'm hardly the forum junkie i used to be, using a 12 step program against forum junkieing...

I think it sound an excellent idea.

I personally wondered why the rock pick doesnt have a speed/slash value also. It would seem realistic that if it will stick into rock then it should stick into people no problem.

What i miss in crafting and mining tools, is the wearing off, thus need of repairs.
This makes wonder what really repairing is. I think the weapons repair kit is not the answer. What we should use for repairing are tools, like the sharpening wheel standing near Harnquist and not needed/used at all. Resources like coal, iron and other, which may be needed while reforging the weapon ( a feature so greatly needed, when your weapon isn't first better, but piece of artistic and historical blade. ). In future development some leather material for covering the handle, but we have skins already.
This what I would focus on, not some silly slash values for every possible item in PS.

Of course if you hold one of those little axes with the blade up the back end would be a pretty good hammer. Ever pound tent pegs in with a hatchet?

If Xordan gets his way, every item will have a slash value eventually.  (Or was that Draklar's goal?)

I certainly hope this is the case, it just seems quite sensible to me. I would love to beat a rogue with a mug of ale ;)
