I'm not sure if this has been discussed (I wasn't quite sure what words to search with), but are the in-game dates kept track of? (e.g. Unodin 29th, 750) If so, where can we find out the date? Or do we hazard a guess?

I'm just wondering what to RP it as, since time of year is kind of important (especially if you're thinking of starting an in-game journal, like me  ;) )

At the moment there is no in-game calendar :>
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

So... what do you suggest? Gloss over the dates? Make it up on demand? Complex calculations based on the in-game clock?

IMHO you're being a little rude... :( at least your words sounds rude for me,
(I don't want to turn this in a "manners" discussion) but anyway...

if you are interested in how time pass in Yliakum, see this post by Miadon's calculation about time.

but, when the server is down and starts again, the clock starts at 12:00 am... (@Karyuu: am I right?)
The point is, since there's no time line, you can't know which day is nor month nor year.

If I remember well, there'll be date and time in the next PS' releases... but who knows when!  :-\

Nilaya worked out the in-game calendar to correspond to real life days - you can see the current date at the top left-hand corner on the Explorers website :] I don't have the details of how it works, though I can ask. Right now, people generally ignore the dates. At least I personally haven't run into a situation where they were of a vital importance.

I find myself unable to even utilise the ingame time because it really runs way too fast. You can at 8 AM set up a meeting for 10 AM, but even if you run, you won't make it in time. Nighttime has no meaning, either, as it, too, passes too quickly to even embrace it in your RP. An ordinary tavern chat can easily take several ingame days. IOW, measure the time by your char's / RP timeline, not by the server's clock. That way, you can also fast-forward or insert RP in your timeline. Things are bound to conflict, though, so it's best to not use explicit time / dates unless really necessary. Maybe you could use "Day 1", "Day 2", etc. in your diary?

Edit: I therefore have come to think that the ingame clock should run at half the speed of the RL clock (yes, this is significantly larger than even my original proposal). This way, everyone would be able to enjoy both daytime and nighttime, as was the reason for the fast timeline ingame. However, one would also be able to set up dates and actually utilise the ingame clock, synchronising to it instead of ignoring it. It would also reflect the longer time it takes to type than to talk, as well as the fact that most players can't spend as much time in PS as they spend on RL.

Um... Okay. I apologise for upsetting Kay. She looks devastated :P
Seriously though, ignore most of what I say. It's just my sense of humour, unrelentingly insidious as it may be  ::)

Thanks for the help though lads (and ladies). It did seem like it would be a bit difficult to accurately keep track of the date with all the server maintanence (and like Seytra says, time moves too quickly in-game).
