Hi, I recently downloaded Planeshift and have not yet played. I was wondering if anyone could tell me 'how good' planeshift is, and whether or not I should continue to wait for the mac client to work....

PS. some screen shots would be ace!

PPS. I know theres some on the website but if anyone could give me more.... :sweatdrop:

PPPS. I dont know if I am allowed to ask this but can annyone direct me to some other good 3d rpg's?

We have a stickied Screenshots thread in the General Discussion section :]

Waiting for the mac client doesn't take any effort, really - you can be playing other games in the meantime, and check back occasionally. Not like you're sitting on the edge of your seat staring at the screen the entire time I think sticking around is definitely recommended. We have a community full of some really cool people, and it's pretty cool to see the game grow all the time.

Here's a list of some other MMORPGs.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Yeah I would really recommend sticking around for the OSX-client! I'm pretty new to this game (2-3 weeks before the big Wait started :P), and I'm completely stuck! Don't think any game ever got me like PS (I'm pretty picky about games, usually don't like any of them). The only ones that I've played that can compare to PS (in the way the got to me) is probably a few of the Final Fantasy-games :D

Oh and by the way, I've been trying to find a decent MMORPG to play while I wait for the OSX-client of PS, and all those that I've tried for OSX...suck.. Or have real potential, but they charge you money to play, or to unlock everthing fun...

silkroad is pretty fun to play

Indeed that may very well be so... but when I tried to enter the main site http://www.silkroadonline.net/ ...it told me this useful information:

Web page of Silkroad Online is optimized under below condition.
Windows Operation Systems ( Microsoft Windows 9X/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 )
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and above.

Too bad that I use and Apple computer with Mac OS X and that I surf the Internet with Safari Web Browser and an old (no longer supported) version of Netscape for Mac OS X

Since gmack started this thread and fluffy posted here as well on the Mac OSX Specific Issues Board of PS Forums, I assume they are also PlaneShifting on Apple computers similar to mine...

Still, it's very kind of you to try and cheer us all up, Kalika, and help us through this excruciating l-o-n-g wait for version 0.3.017 of the PS Client for Mac OSX - you're sooo sweet!

Here's some flowers for you  :flowers:  :flowers:  :flowers:

- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

Righty Ho then. I know a good deal of games for the Mac. But since you asked for the specific RPG genre here is the RPG list.

Ahem

Shadowbane
Minions of Mirth
Eternal Lands

Possibly a bunch of others  but I dont know where the external hard disk is gone....
I also have a bunch of action games. Gimme a message if you want to know.

Depends on who you're talking to, I suppose.   ;)

When you turn off JavaScript, it is incapable of displaying that junk so you can access most parts of the site. Working perfectly fine (no surprise there). However, when you click on the screenshots, it'll display similar junk even then. Looks like they are sponsored by Microsoft, since restricting access to the website to M$ browsers is a pretty dumb thing in modern times. Nothing against mentioning it, but outright blocking? Pft! Not to mention that there isn't any client except for windoze.

You can also manually select your user agent from the Debug menu (if you enabled it ;) ) in Safari. It's a neat trick, but basically, the page will think you're IE! It's terribly slow, though, for some inexplicable reason.

Or use the user agent switcher (for Firefox). Manually setting about:config general.useragent.override will do the same, given the appropriate string (the switcher sends "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)", for example).
