Hmm.. I guess I need to understand Ingrish 'betterer'...

'cuz with a twenty dollar bill and twenty dollars. -- both refer to a plurality of dollars.

---

I'd personally go with making either acceptable.. just to save on the nitpicking. ;)

The plural of Tria is definetly Tria! Or was it Trias? Or both? :P
In fact I think it's both, but in different meanings.

The plural of Tria is Trias, if you are talking about the coins, but Tria, if you are talking about currency or worth.

Remember the coins Tria, Hexa (10 Tria), Octa (50 Tria) and Circle (250 Tria).

So, if you are having one Hexa, you are owning 10 Tria until you change them at the "Bank of Hydlaa" to 10 single Tria coins. Then you are owning 10 Trias with a worth of 10 Tria :)

Since you are able to change one Octa and a Circle, which are having a worth of 300 Tria, to coins, which would be 300 Trias, you are allowed to say either Tria or Trias.
* Quantus likes to count Circels and not Tria

Is it the plural of a Tria "Tria" like on www.planeshift.it

The golden "Circle" is worth 250 Tria
Or is it "Trias" like the system message?

Everyone has looted 10 Trias

IMHO if there is a conflict between system messages and the settings, then settings are correct. System messages are written by programmers like me who have no clue what the settings are and they shouldn't be trusted :)

Well, I once saw a discussion about tria/trias too and I'm sure someone quoted Talad that it's trias that is right.
Just search for "trias" by user "Talad" and you'll see that he uses trias consistently, except for one slight mistake where he uses "tria" ;)

I think the word 'Tria' originated from the god 'Trias' in Planescape, personally.
Does that help?

But I really think both 'tria' and 'trias' is right, just like color and colour are both right (despite what this bloody html code thinks :P)

I personally think Tria sounds a lot better. I've noticed this inconsistency as well and it would be great if it was decided what's to be used.

Hmm, did that, but he didn't actually mention it often at all. It could be a mistake, but I suppose he wouldn't make such a mistake. "Trias", then.

Well, the settings page refers to them as "Trias" in the headline and most of the content of that section, but used "Tria" in lots more places. Looks like Quantus' explanation is the best in this light.
I think the word 'Tria' originated from the god 'Trias' in Planescape, personally.
The settings page states that it comes from "thriangle", since indeed trias are in the form of a triangle. I somehow doubt that the devs would import a pecularity from another game into PS, especially since the other coins are formed and named in the same fashion.

Aye, though putting more inconsistencies into the ingame terminology (i.e., plural would "normally" be "trias", not "tria") might not be good in terms of realism.
I have as of yet been using "tria" as plural (except for some typos), but I'll be using "trias" until further notice.

I think there's a similar IRL problem with € - some languages use a different plural for it then others (which is normal), but a lot of people just use "euro" as a plural as well (not limited to language).

Actually I believe that "Tria" is already the plural.
The in-game word "Tria"  I suspect that derives from the word  Triangular which is the shape of the coin.
The word triangular has a Latin origin and specifically from the word "Triangulum" which has the same meaning.
Triangulum though, derives from the Greek word "Trigonon" which is a combination of the words "Tria"=three + "gonia"=angle.
The word "Tria" in ancient Greek is already in plural.

My "three" cents :-)

i use both... and as stated above with the euro think... i think it should be left up to the players in game.. sometims i say.. WOO i got 5k trias other times.. i say aww.. i lost 100 trias...
tria does sound "better" though again.. leave it to the players :) you aint going to kill someone becuz they said  hey. you want 20 dollar?  ;D
