I too, think that \"pantaloons\" is a funny word.  I actually use the word a lot... to annoy my friends.  

A word that drives me nuts is \"colonel\"... WHY OH WHY is it pronounced \"kernel\"?

Hmm, I\'m making just wild guesses, but maybe all \"Colonels\" are in fact robots, which run the Linux kernel on their hardware. :P Don\'t know...

Anyways, another funny word (one of my favourite funny words, though I hardly ever use it) is \"beachcomber\".

Not to go off subject, but a few other word uses that grate me are:

Quiet, not quite, when you want someone to shush.
Oriented, not orientated, when lining something up
You\'re, not your, when \"you are\" using a contraction
and mispelling misspelling is pretty much unforgiveable.
