Annoying Characters

Well, I've recently made a new character called 'Vexus', who I'm falling in love with  The thing is, he's rather... colourful. Especially his speech patterns, which I find tends to turn people off and/or annoy them. Vexus is basically quite insane and dissociated, and so I make him sound that way. The problem is, people don't really seem to get that his poor grammar and lack of social grace is IC, and not a reflection of me being a noob

As you can see, nobody had much tolerance for Vexussss What do you guys think?

That's a riot.

I think it's great rp to introduce characters like that as long as you don't purposely look to disrupt things. But it should be fair game when people interact with you. Specially if they treat you like a noob and don't bother to pay attention to the fact that you stay ic.

What is even funnier is that I use that character to give out key info in quests, so people HAVE to talk to him. xD

Odd speech can be fun ... however if I have to be really honest I'm kinda fed up with all the RPers trying to play moronic or retarded characters.

I've come across characters who constantly swore, Tourette syndrome or something, some who farted, wet themselves and did other dirty things the whole time and characters who have less brain cells than an amoeba. Those people make me think they're just using the concept of RP to be able to do whatever they want. As long as they claim it's their character they can keep doing it.

I say no to that Not to be annoying or uptight but I'm pretty sure that if some character like the ones I mentioned above showed themselves in public in the middle ages .. they were either hung or burned for witchcraft or thrown into the dungeons and removed from plain sight. Abnormality has always been frowned upon and societies have always tried to hide the ill of mind in asylums, prison or keep them locked up in their own houses.

An occasional escape from a lunatic I can understand but this crazy person should normally be removed quickly. Instead I see them sticking around, annoying people everywhere while most of us try to ignore them.

*makes a point to push the next crazy person into a puddle of mud and drag them to the middle of the Plaza so we can throw rotten apples at them until the guards drag them off*

I think that the character is funny.  There where people with disabltys in the middle ages thoug.  I don't think this character sounds like he has that tpye of madness. 

He sounds more like a person that has trobal with his speech and dose not know what is socialie accpetable.  It sounds more like he is manltey disable.  That was apectied if some had prombles as such but not apectied if

you can talk strangely or in a not a regular way (I don't mean by that that you need to ask the most stupid questions to be unique)   
you can talk about strange things or like you have some illness, there are 1000 ways.... I'm sure you can think of something

It's pretty obvious that you haven't talked to the right people. Also, a single phrase of OOC clarification can save you thousands of lines of misunderstanding. Also, dont overdo it, otherwise it becomes unrealistic, quite possibly due to the realism that Zan mentioned. Vexus is, if not insane, at least severely misguided, as his remerk about a serpent god shows, which will likely get him into an asylum eventually.

Additionally, consistency, soundness and sticking with the chars you chose is important to make you as RPer believable and distinguish you from those Zan mentioned who merely abuse RP as justification to do whatever they feel like ATM. IOW, if people don't feel that you are serious about RP, then their tolerance towards you will drop significantly, and rightfully so.
