Player Competitions
« on: December 16, 2006, 04:20:09 am »
I like this idea.
I was looking something like this, but what i like to see is a little bit difference.

I like to see a competition between all players.
Let me explain:
As a player you search 2 other players. Whit this players you sign up.
You make a name for this group of players.
And then comes it. A payer who whats the game is a jury.
The leaders of two group (who are looted) tells the jury in what player fight first, second and third.
They start fighting until one died. then the next starts until one died, etc
The groups who wins two ore more wins the game.
Then start the next group.
Until every group fight ones.
That are then the first rounds.
This will continue until there are two groups left.
Thats the final and this is the same way as the other fights.

Some idea in this idea.

To pay money.

Lets say every player pays two tria. That is 6 trias a group.
Then the winner get 50%
Second gets 30%
And the third get: 20%
Thats make it fun and a reason to try.

To make groups while you fight.
This will mean that you fight against 3 other player whit 3 other players. Now the game played like 1 against 1.
I don't know if this is possible.

We can try this if this works.
To start whit a little group of player.
I was thinking to start whit 16 groups.

Then there is a problem.
How do I, you manage the sign up.
There are corp ital methought.
Like a forum sign up. Then you need a special days for it. Not everybody is at the same time on line.
Another way is to sign up at the moment.
I personally like the last one.
You take a date put that date into a forum.
You make up a place. like the centrum of the arena.
Then they sign up there. Find a way outside into the real stadium. Visitors can see it then from above and the fighters have there place.

Another problem is that there need to be more jury then one.
One for the sign up and to guide them to the stadium.
But what if Internet connection fails on a jury. Then the game is over?
Thats way there need two or more jury's. It becomes easy to guide them to the stadium.
And when a lot of people sign up. Then there is a lot of work to do.

If this getting big there much be rules added to a forum then.
This to make sure to get a rules and every one to fight.
This means to meat at special days.
But I don't think it is that becomes that big very soon.

Since this is a player-initiative idea and not something that would require more game mechanics, I think it belongs better in the "In-Game Events" section.

However, I'm a bit aghast at the idea of a fight to the death. That's really brutal, especially for something weekly. Remember that PlaneShift is a roleplaying game, and your actions are supposed to be done in-character. To have weekly "sanctioned" killings is a bit too much.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

please read over this, cause most of the ideas, allbeit slightly different, are in there. It's been a while since I hosted a  tournament, especially one with teams, but more will come up soon(tm).

Perhaps you'll like what you see.
