ForewordIt been a long time since someone heard about this guild a bit more and I'm hoping to change it with this thread. We need members who like to roleplay, no matter how good they are with it. Both people with ideas and those who also want to have fun, but aren't as creative. One thing is sure, there is no fun without people willing to seed it and continue. There are free places for people who like to rule and build a guild, but through well thought, agreed ideas and decisions.
This may be nothing more than what is already offered by some of the other RP guilds. But you may feel interested more if you like guild devoted to nature protecting and some of the commonly known things about this idea. But don't think stereotypically and be prepared for fresh approach. As a guild, we can also propose being known by some of the the older community members and possibly better chance for becoming confirmed part of the PS world when devs will start implementing guild features like guild houses for example.
The guild exist since over 3 years and both its story and organisation has been thought off long time ago. While it may be good, it was created to serve members of the brotherhood and this isn't going to change. It's even that while much of the stuff is written down, it is lacking in few parts and waiting for creative continuation. So if the guild will reborn and will gain more members than the few it has, there is a lot of room for possible changes.
I hope you will like it, feel interested and some of you will be willing to join.
StoryDistress and HopeAt first was a dream. Aegmar, a mere Ylian peasant was tired of working for a scornful and faraway lord, whom face he had never seen. Yet, for the security of his beloved family, he was enduring his burden silently, dismissing any thought of revolt or flight. One day, at the end of a year cursed by a particularly poor harvest, the militia came to his village to take away the annual tax on the villager’s production. None of the peasants could afford to pay his due, and the guards got angered. As a punishment, they killed several of the old people because, as they said, they were useless and did nothing but taking resources that should have come to the lord. It was not the first time that Aegmar witnessed the death of innocents, but this time he couldn’t take it anymore. With his family and some other villagers he decided to leave the village and go south, where could be found inhabited yet welcoming lands. After twenty-six days of walk, the fugitives finally found a place where they decided to establish their new village, which they decided to call ‘New Seed’. As time passed, the village grew prosperous, and after a while, people came from distant places to join them. Aegmar’s dream was now a reality, and he was happy to tell the story of New Seed to the newcomers, passing on its ideals and traditions.
A crimson dayBut dreams are ephemeral. One can enjoy it for the time it lasts, but sooner or later comes the awakening... New towns were growing all over Yliakum, and New Seed’s isolation came to an end. Pushed by their lust for power and richness, the ???mighty had no respite in their search for new lands to rule. One day, two generations after Aegmar closed his eyes for the last time, an emissary came to New Seed and spoke to the villagers. „The mighty lord Northik has sent me to deliver you this message: I, Northik Barm, lord of Ahneren, knight of the Warding Scales claim this land as mine, in agreement with the Octarch’s decision. You have built this village on a land that did not belong to you, and now you are outlaws. Today I give you a choice: if you ???swear me allegiance, you will be allowed to stay here and continue living as you used to. If not, then you will have to leave before the week is over.” (…)
Refusing to live under the authority of yet another lord, the villagers decided that, despite their reluctance to do so, they had no choice but to leave their village. Unfortunately, Northik, driven mad by the Scale, feared that they might serve another lord, and assumed it was safer to just get rid of them. Mercenaries were sent, and they killed everyone they saw. Only a group of young people who were not in the village at this moment were spared, and they could do nothing but witness the slaughter once they returned.
A forest, a hawk, and a voiceThe survivors did not know what to do, but they knew they had to flee this place. They walked right ahead during days, until they eventually reached a huge forest. There, they saw a red hawk perched on a tree, as if he was expecting them. He flew away and they followed him, deep inside the forest. After a while, the hawk went on another tree, and faced them. Suddenly, they heard a voice inside their head, nice and gentle. The voice introduced herself as Aiwendil, an ancient spirit of the forest, and told them her story.

SummaryThe Crimson Order is a Brotherhood placed under the protection of Aiwendil, a spirit of Nature. Our main goals are to remain neutral and independent, avoid conflicts, and see that Nature is not endangered. We are not looking for fame, power, or glory; we just try to grant our members a peaceful environment where they can share their skills and achieve tasks through mutual aid. We only fight to defend ourselves and to ease Aiwendil's ire against intruders.
RulesOur Brotherhood has a number of easy, but strict rules. If you don't follow them you can face serious penalties, such as being demoted or banned from the guild.
- Respect others.
Help other members whenever you can, try to be friendly to everyone you meet, as long as they do the same to you and are respectful to your ideals. - Follow all PlaneShift rules.
Being a Crimson Order's member you may not do anything against the rules of PlaneShift, especially cheating or hacking. - Try to be a regular player.
This doesn't mean that you should be playing every day, but try to show up at least once or twice a week ingame or on our forum. Notify the Council if you have to leave for a long period of time. - Never betray the Order.
Members should not belong to another guild, even with a different character without council agreement. They may take part in organizations though if they won't share informations known only within brotherhood. At last, a member should never do or say anything that could harm the Order. - Follow the precepts of the Brotherhood.
All members are under the protection of Aiwendil, and have sworn to assist her and respect her ideals. A Brother should never act against Nature, look for conflict, or endanger someone unless it is to protect his or his brethren's life. The resources offered by nature should be taken with balance, as it is happening inside the wild. - Cooperate with higher ranked Brothers.
The rank symbolizes the seniority and the reliability of a member. He can ask lower ranked Brothers and Sisters for their cooperation, but also a higher ranked member may be asked by a member lower in hierarchy, for his help and advice, within reasonable limits. - New recruits (Pupils) will be monitored for a while.
New recruits will be monitored by a Recruiter to make sure they follow the rules and stay active. At the end of this trial period, the Pupil may be rejected or promoted to the rank of Adept, in which case he becomes a full member.
DepartmentsEach Department is managed by a Councillor, the Matriarch or the Patriarch. The departments are to organize members into groups which can work together inside and with other departments.
- Artisans Dpt
It's task is to provide all the necessary equipment or resources needed by the members (buildings, weapons, potions, etc.). They are to provide immediately (or, for a bad Dpt, in shortest delay) any material needed by the Brotherhood. They will need to be able to hunt, to discover resources by themselves, build stuff and sell the excess if the treasury has already a reserve.
. - Cult Dpt
They are a bridge beatwen the voice of Aiwendil, and our brotherhood. Members of this department are keepers of harmony in nature. The world which surrounds us has effect on any being existing in it and it is affected by all these beings. Priests and Druids keep that this Law of Harmony is correctly understood by every member of our brotherhood and any of us is not counteracting against it! They also try to teach all others the Aiwendil's word.
. - Entertainment Dpt
Here members have occasion to show their artistic skills and make use of them for the Order. They may be bards, painters, poets or any other artist. Also some of them may spend their time on organizing guild events and good parties.
. - Knowledge Dpt
Their main task is to gather all kinds of found infomations. They know where to look for them to keep brotherhood informed in time. Finally they remember the past and keep it from being forgotten by writing down the main events.
. - Politics Dpt
Brothers and Sisters in this department should be social people with good knowledge about Yliakulm society and laws affecting it. They should know all organizations, aliances and guilds of Planeshift, their goals and their way of life. Their art is word and they use it to help the Brotherhood by keeping good contact with other guilds and indiviual people.
. - Safety Dpt
This department is the brotherhood's first line of defence from any threat. They will help allies and important persons like diplomats. To achieve this task, they should be skilled in fighting arts as well as quick and agile in order to find new areas and know its tactical or economic usefulness. If needed Guards will defend Artisans when they will be gathering resourcers and then convoy them to safe place.
. - Treasury Dpt
They are in charge of managing stocks (weapons, potions, mounts, etc.) and permit self-sustaining of the Order.
Stock must not in any case be empty!
CareersBrothers can blossom within the Order by choosing careers according to their personnality and ambition. This will give them the opportunity to contribute to the wealth of the Brotherhood. As they increase in ranking, they will have a choice between more different careers. Remember that Pupils are not fully members of the Order yet, and as such can not practise any career until they reach the rank of Adept. One career can be chosen at the rank of Adept, and two careers for the ranks above. This is to encourage specialisation and better effects as people may focus better on one job while others do their job. But exceptions are possible and while there are not enough members to fill all needed jobs, this rule is changing dynamicaly to reflect best outcome.
Artisan
Artisans have chosen to use their crafting skills for the benefit of the Brotherhood rather than adventure or fighting. They can rely on the Order and the Traders to provide them supplies, share their knowledge with their Brothers, and use the knowledge gathered inside the Brotherhood to improve their work.
Trader
A Trader surveys the economy of Planeshift, follows the prices, and knows where and how to find good deals. When the Brotherhood needs supplies, it will ask for the help of the Traders.
Priest
A priest is a dedicated worshipper of Aiwendil. He takes care of the cult, organizes ceremonies, and sees that no one shows disrespect to our Protector, Aiwendil. The Priests watch over their Brothers, who will benefit from their wisdom. Also, Priests will try to spread the Voice of Aiwendil to outsiders, and will often work in pair with Recruiters to talk with Pupils and potential future members.
Druid
Not quite as adventurous as Rangers, and not as expansive as Priests, Druids seek quietness and harmony, and are devoted to the protection of Nature. They often work with Rangers on issues related to it, and when needed draw their strength from their surroundings. A Druid can not take Ranger as a second career.
Organizer
Organizers are in charge of the Order's events. They find new ideas, agree on dates, set up the events and announce them (with the help of Heralds).
Artist
Artists have chosen to put their talent at the service of the Brotherhood. They write stories, poetry, songs, draw, or anything else according to their skills, which they can show during events or gatherings, and could be used by the Order.
Mentor
A mentor is a member who, because of his particular interest in a given domain, has decided to specialize in that domain. This title does not give the owner any authority or the status of council member. However, when needed for taking a decision, the council will ask for his advice. In return, and if necessary, the mentor can ask the council for help in his researches. He is also considered as a reference by his guild mates, who will benefit from his advice. The council will not ask any member to become a mentor; the decision must come from the member who will propose his services to the council. To become a Mentor, a Brother needs to choose a specialization domain and then show his skills to the Council.
Herald
Heralds keep the Brotherhood aware of the miscellaneous things happening in Planeshift, in game or not. Their work consists of searching for news, making sure of their reliability, sorting them, and seeing that they are correctly spread within the Brotherhood. They also make announcements for the Order.
Librarian
The Librarian is a keeper of the knowledge gathered by the Order: the tales of the members, the manuals, articles and books written inside or outside the Brotherhood. He knows where to find them, regularly looks for new ones, encourages his Brothers to share their knowledge. His own knowledge is not as sharp as a Mentor's, but is wider. Only Mentors can become a Librarian.
Ambassador
His role is to establish and keep contacts with other guilds, in game as well as out of the game. As a member of the Politics department, he must be a very social, yet serious person. Each guild is assigned to only one Ambassador, but an Ambassador can be in charge of several guilds.
Recruiter
Recruiters are Brothers who, thanks to their ability of making new friends and their keen judgment, know who could enter the Brotherhood or not. When they find someone, they can propose him/her to the Council, which will take a decision with their help. There may be only 5 Recruiters. Recruiters must watch over their Pupils until they reach the rank of Adept. During this period, they are their priviledged contact, and are responsible for their actions.
Lawyer
A Lawyer knows every rules, laws, and customs of Planeshift. He can be summoned by the Council and help his Brothers when his advice is needed. Lawyers know the flaws of the rules in Planeshift as well as within the Brotherhood, and thus may propose new laws or updates to the Council.
Guard
Guards have sworn to protect their Brothers against any enemies. They will fight for the Order under the commandment of their Champions in case of war, and see that no threat is endangering the Brotherhood in times of peace. They have a strong sense of justice and loyalty, and take pride in perfecting their fighting and tactical skills.
Scout
Scouts are the explorers of the Brotherhood. Their passion for adventure leads them to look for new places, resources or quests. They like to work in small groups and to put their discoveries in common.
Ranger
Rangers are discreet Brothers. They have a very close relation with Nature and Aiwendil, and thus are their keepers. To accomplish a task, they usually prefer to work by themselves rather than joining a group. They are also versatile characters, with a wide range of skills, and like to wander in unexplored areas or sneak close to enemies. A Ranger can not take Druid as a second career.
Champion
Champions are the best fighters of the Brotherhood. They will be the first sent in case of battle, and will be exposed to more danger than the Guards. To help them excelling in fighting, however, the Order will lend them premium equipment. A Champion has a deep knowledge of battle techniques against any kind of foe, a strong sense of discipline, and is able to lead his Brothers during a battle. There may be only 5 Champions. Only guards can be promoted to Champions. Competitions will be organized regularly, and only the best fighters will gain access to this career. If a Champion fails to reach the top of the competition, he will restart as a Guard until he has a new opportunity of becoming a Champion.
Vice Treasurer
He helps the Treasurer in his work, or replaces him when needed. There may be only 1 Vice Treasurer.
Treasurer
He keeps the treasury, makes plans about funds and equipment repartition and proposes them to the Council. There maybe only 1 Treasurer and as a Councillor, he may not belong to any other department. Only the Vice Treasurer can be promoted to Treasurer.
