Cool!
I like it!
Just a perplexity about light sources (and mainly shadows)
The window is a source, good (it's black out there, but we don't care: we're focusing inside); Fire is another one, but it seems it only affects the floor; a third lamp seems to be in the side of the viewer, but it doesn't enlight the stool... and, under the stool, is that a shadow or hole? As a shadow, I think it's hardly compatible with other illumination, as a hole is good, but vould be better to enlight the border opposite to lamp.
Fireplace's edges are a little sharp, maybe a bevel could add much to the scene.
Good use of maps, and good job!
[Little disclaimer.. my english skills are poor, keep it in mind if you think I'm being offensive or similar; I only try to be constructive, I hope I can learn from others and others for me.]
bye!
Thanks pKrime!
yes, i noticed that there was not background too, don't know why it did that, because a previous render showed up a starry night sky in the window. But i will change that.
The Fire i found to be very very difficult to work with. An omni light was used as its light source, but when i showed up on the walls, it casts horrific shadows and the brightness on the walls is extreme and does not look the least bit real. The third light is positioned on the wall, and the stool is somewhat away from the wall. The stools legs are not seen because of the shadow, but i guess i can add a small light so you can see its texture. The fireplace walls are actually planes. (yes i know, bad bad bad!) but i'm thinking of extruding it and then beveling it some.
but yes, thanks so much pKrime and i took no offense whatsoever!
@ArcaneFalcon: haha, thanks, i'll look at them in my spare time, i currently have to work on something i have no clue about for my robotics team involving 3ds max. Yet if it involves character usuage, i will def use your site! Thanks!
@Proglin: thanks, sorry i havn't been talking much, alots been going on.
@ThomPhoenix: I def plan on applying for the team when i turn 18, i'm 16 currently, so i have 2 years to gain and hone more of these skills! I don't plan on making a profession out of this, (i'm more into genetics and biomedial engineering field) but i still plan on making this my hobby and since i've joined PS (almost a year ago) i've wanted to make contributions and be proud of my work being put on thousands of peoples computers as they play the game

once i fix up some errors on that scene, i'll post a youtube of the fire animation and the rendered image.
