Please help, I cannot log into the game!

OK so I'm new to the game and when i first downloaded the mirror cuz the bittorrent thing wouldnt work i clicked RUN and not save and so after it installed and loaded and updated and everything I was able to make the character and when i was finally done i started to play. But there was extreme lag, to the point where i couldnt play so i restarted my computer, remembering that i hadnt saved the game onto the computer. so after the computer (btw i use windows) restarted and everything, i redownloaded it, this time saving it onto the computer. after everything was set and done, there were no updates in the updater so i launched the game and it says that it is not the right version  X-/ please check the updater..and so idid but it had no more updates! i tried again and again but i cant seem to find out the problem! can someone please help? i would really appreciate it...

i guess no one can answer at this time  :'( maybe ill check this tomorrow...

7 minutes waiting for a response :P

Some people have suggested in the past that if you delete a file called version.dat (search in your Planeshift directory) the updater is more likely to update your client in this sort of situation. good luck

Waiting 7 minutes between posts?  Keep in mind this forum isn't a 24/7 help desk phone line.  Answering your questions may take awhile.  Patience will be your friend. 

I am running windows, I had .3.17 installed, I went to the updater, ran it without changing any settings, it got some updates, and installed them.  I then loaded the game, and I could play.  I would suggest you uninstall PS, making sure to remove the PS directory the installer creates, reinstall it fresh, then run the updater.  It should find files, and should update.  You should then be able to play.

What are your system stats, have you checked for the latest drivers for graphics and dx, are you running a 64 bit processor ?

PS uses openGL, not Direct X, so dx (assuming that's what you were referring to) doesn't matter.

ah ok ill try out those suggestions..thanks everyone
and about the 7 minutes between posts, what i meant was it was really late and i wasnt really expecting an answer so i guess i was kind of talking to myself in a way? lol
