Game closes on loading screen

I'm new to the game and just downloaded it. After updating and running ps, I made my character and loaded the server. As the blue bar finished loading, the game stops for a few seconds and then just closes. I'm not really sure what to do as I am really bad with computers. I have read a lot of the threads already made, and although they sound similar, I'm not sure if they apply to me. Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I have searched, so i doubt it. I have a macbook, so i downloaded the mac version. I'm not really sure what other information i need to give or exactly how to get it, but if u tell me what i need to do, i'll try my best to follow instructions. Thanks for any responses, I look foward to playing.

First, excuse me but i am french, so i won't speak always clearly.
I have got a similar problem, i am on an "old" MacIntosh, the "e-mac". I have got all the system requirements for a minimum install (only my graphic card (Geforce 2 MX) is not in recommended requirements) but the GhZ. I only have 800 MhZ. I tried at the end of august to install this game. I had problems, and so I gave up. Today, I tried again, and all worked... until the loading of GUI, then the game stops and leave. I think that the problem comes from the only 800 MhZ, and so I advise you to check up the power of your macbook...
Maybe will it help... I hope so.

Im having the same problem.

The game loads and then quits, sometimes before the game appears sometimes after.

I dont think its my specs as i have a Mac Pro

4Ghz Processor , 3.5GB ram, and the graphics card is compatible as it all worked before the update...

So i know it cant be the specs, unless there is something iv missed.

Ok, so we all have the same problem 
I'm trying to run PS on my ibook G4 1,33MHz, ram 512Mo, and i also have the "GUI" loading problem. Maybe it could be a version problem, but i think some mac users are playing without probs anyway... I hope we'll get the problem fixed soon

After trying a lot of things, the game eventually just started working again. I assume that in my case it was just heavy lag causing the game to crash.

Je parle francais aussi donc je peux vous aider. Avez-vous fait l'update? Si oui, aviez-vous changé les permissions avant? Sinon l'update ne se fait pas correctement. J'avais le meme probleme. Mac mini premiere generation G4 1 GB ram 1.25 Ghz
Il y a un topic quelque part pour les permissions mais presentement je ne le trouve pas.. si ca  ne marche toujours pas ecrivez moi.

Sorry for the english one... I just said that they have to change permissions before update. If you dont do that, the update is not done correctly. Searching the topic i dont fond it right now.. i'll search later if you need it.

UM ye i have th esame porblem i just created my char,and the window just close im using a MACBOOK,i have 1.83 Ghz its based on INTEL CORE DUO,and my version is 10.4.7,wit the psclient version 17,ummm and  i update the game i tried wit all the resolutions, and it dosent appear nothing after the game close i tried wit  2 char already plz help me or tell me where i can get help if u need more information i will give but help me and sorry for the bad enlgish im italian it seems lots of french here

That worked great for me.  I am now able to play the game.  I still get some of the pixelation problems during character selection, and during initial joining of the game but I simply wait fifteen seconds and the screen clears.  I can move around and everything.  Thanks!

The one thing wrong with doing it this way is that the planeshift.cfg file has strange default values and does not include the lines to set the screen resolution and colour.  Therefore the window remains small and all the menus are weird sizes and in weird locations.  I am going to play with the .cfg file though and see if I can move and resize the menus... and if I can get that working then try using a different resolution.

P.S. Forgot to mention that I am running the game on a MacBookPro 15", Intel Core Duo processors, 2 MHz, with 2GB of RAM and 128 MB of VRAM.
