stats-requirements?!
« on: January 08, 2007, 03:36:49 pm »
Hello  :)
I am a male Dremorian fellower of the mystical magic ways, on my trials to get to ultimate wisdom!
I got well developed mental abilities and outstanding wizard-skills, but physically i'm kinda weak (strength 33)..

I would like to know, if there is any chance, of ever getting medium armors worn (requirements)? Trying to put on a Chainmail, I get told, I'll will have to get "a lot more strength"! How much is "a lot"?
The same question I have for the Longsword, though my falchion serves me quite well (with lightning;))

Thanks in advance ;)..

Yes, it is possible to get enough strength to wear chainmail.  Find a strength trainer that can help you and each time you raise your strength a point (or 2 or 3), try your longsword or chainmail again.  Eventually, you will get to the point wear you can equip them.

Thanks for your reply, Einnol,

I thought of that too. But for 1point strength-gain, I would estimatedly need 15pp! And thats whats my question is about:
If the requirement is at maybe strength35, ok, but if its at strength50, no way (I wouldnt start to train my strength, but train on my magic skills..)

The worst thing is when you start needing better weapons and armour to fight stronger opponents, but you don't have enough strength to equip them, which ultimately screws you over... :P

And I'd be wary about investing too much in the Ways - magic isn't much use once you move on from rats and rogues...

Oh man  :'( Ok, more rp'ing then.. Further (sorry if OT) question:

To get my time over well (For the next few years powering my muscles up;)), I'd like to do a job - I'm a bit skilled in alchemie. Is it already implemented (so I only have to find a teacher/quest for it?)

BTW:
To that balancing:
why not simply increasing the effect of "spell-power" a little bit. in the current state, when i cast electrotouch 50% or 0%, theres no real difference, except that 50% might have a chance to fail.. ::|

Actually, I've felled many an ulbernaut with just the basic spells (the only ones I have).  Of course, my strongest one only does about 0.7% of damage to the beast, so it takes a good while.  I have to bring 20+ mana potions.

While that may seem pitiful, I would have absolutely no hope of taking one in physical combat.  I doubt I'd even get a chance to land a hit before finding myself looking at the Death Guardian.

Considering the time it takes to go get the potions, get all the way out to the "den", slay an ulbernaut, and return, it may be faster to fight fanatics or mercinaries.  But I wouldn't get the satisfaction of beating what is supposedly the strongest beast in the game with a relatively weak and new character.  Also, if I bring 50 potions, I can take down two per trip, which increases the efficiency a good bit.

As for training by doing a job, as I understand it that's even slower than fighting.  Also, I don't believe alchemy is implemented yet.   I wound up starting with rank 8 in it too :(  Oh well.
Did you get the number on that one-eyed rat?

So far the only jobs (that aren't solely RP, of course) is repairing, mining and metallurgy/smithing, which sort of go hand-in-hand. Mining gold is the best way to make money, but if you make a nice-quality weapon you could get some nice jink for it.

You could also perform services for richer characters in exchange for money - carting miner's ore around, acting as a bodyguard, doing other oddjob tasks, etc.

And I don't think the 'spell-power' bar has been porperly implemented yet.
