Server failed

Hi all,
When I use the command ping laanx.fragnetics.com I have no problem receiving response, but when I ping the server using the updater or trying to run the game it always gives me the error saying 'Server didn't respond' (for updater) or failed (when trying to login). Any idea?

Um, think this may be the fix for this, I may be wrong though.

Find your servers.xml file in the PS directory.

Edit it and make sure it reads:

<serverlist>
<server name="Fragnetics" ip="laanx.fragnetics.com" port="7777" />
</serverlist>   

Or it just may be that your internet is wonky.  Or DNS is being stupid.  If thats the case, swap out the ip="laanx.fragnetics.com"  part with the actualy ip nuber of theserver you get from thatping response and then try that.

Thanks for the quick response. The servers.xml does include the serverlist element and I tried replacing the server name with its IP address as well but it doesn't work. One note is that when I ping the server on the command line the responses are from kraken.fragnetics.com instead of laanx but since they have the same IP address I'm assuming they are the same servers?

Just to check: are you using a firewall or router? UDP port 7777 does need to be enabled for the server.

Even when I disable the firewall it still wouldn't work. And port 7777 is unblocked. But still, why would I be able to ping the server using a comman prompt while not able to ping in updater or login to the game?
