No Server
« on: February 07, 2007, 12:46:36 am »
I just downloaded PlanetShift and created my account successfully.  I can click on psclient in my PlanetShift 3D folder and open up psclient as well.  Yet when I try to login with my account, an error pop-up box comes up and says something about failed to upload server.  Also, when I look in my server box, it has "Fragnetics: Failed".  Did I forget to do something?  Please respond quickly, I have been dying to play some MMORPG for quite sometime.

The server is down at the moment for an update :]
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

We can rarely give an exact time - hopefully by the end of today you will have things running again, but it may last into tomorrow.

Make sure you update or you will not be able to connect. See the Guide sticky at the top of the forum for details. Note that if you have OS 10.3.9 or earlier, Planeshift will not work for you at this time. A patch is in the works to support 10.3.9, so please be patient. If you are running on an Intel Mac, you may also have problems. Please search and review recent posts for more information. Instructions on determining server status are included in the Guide sticky mentioned above.

Actually I have 10.4 and I downloaded the client from a mirrow from the downloads page and I read in a sticky in this forum which said that the download should have the update already in it.

Well, that sticky was wrong. I know for a fact that dfryer has not released any current binaries. Read the Guide and update or you won't be able to play. ;)

Now I have another problem.  I have read the guide to installing the game and updater to my computer but when I go to terminal to type in all of the information given to me in the sticky, such as "cd " /Applications/PlanetShift3D/ or "cd " "./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater", I get a file not found error.  I am logged in as an administrator and I have tried with out the quotation marks.  What am I doing wrong? :(

I recommend you not do it that way. Just use the Java updater and you don't have to worry about that.

The updater won't work.  That's why I tried using my terminal.

Ok I found the problem.  I was using the wrong updater.  I had the old one in my folder but forgot to drag the new one that I downloaded onto my desktop into the folder thinking both were the same one.  It works now.  By the way, is the server up and running yet because I'm really anxious to play.

I know that this is most likely a repeated but here it goes.  When I open psclient after using the update it quites unexpectantly.  I have 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 1.5 GB of memory.

It doesn't matter at the moment. We're waiting for a new client anyway. ;)
