It's already impossible to reverse the process because of the social factors involved.  Even if we got the United States under control - which is unlikely given the amount of ignorance perpetuated in its society - we'd still have to deal with China, and there's no hope of them respecting international concerns at the expense of their own economic growth.

And it has never, ever been proven, that Global warming is the cause for the polar ice caps melting. Hello? 0.4 degrees? Guess how cold it is up in Antartica: -50 degrees. How could that make a difference?
