I'm having the same issue as Theelk... except I have no idea how to verify that it has the same solution. I did the whole update download using the unofficial downloader. Still no improvement. I have the crash log for the csclient_static. Help would be much appreciated :)

DO
NOT
UPDATE.

Please read the stickies guys. :\

Regarding the issue of a firewall, try pinging the PS server on port 7777. Unfortunately, I forget the exact syntax of how to do this now, and I'm not sitting at my Mac. Basically, open up Terminal and type " man ping" (this will tell you about the ping command). Then ping laanx.fragnetics.com on port 7777.

You can modify the settings manually... take a look at planeshift.cfg (includes most things, esp. resolution), and psclient.cfg. Simply open them with TextEdit and edit away. I'd recommend saving a backup of these files just in case.

I ran the update because the original didn't work either.

I'll do the ping thingy and see what happens.

with sound.
than i tryed again the setup and it opens
i clicked enable sound off and tryed to change
the interface, in default, but then setup quits... :o

What I'd edit: resolution (bring it dooooown). And picture quality (take it to 24 bit, instead of 32). Other than that, leave the file unchanged. Also set up adaptive distancing in the in-game options menu. It's under Graphics, I believe.

should i post it here, the cfg
,or an error log or so_
or are there may be programs that disturb each other?

Do 16. And width and height are resolution. Try toning those back to 800X600. But most importantly, set Adaptive Distancing in-game (under Options -> Graphics). This will help a TON. Set minimum FPS to 20 and you should get much better performance.

Also a slight suggestion, always keep the latest .dmg file you downloaded so you can always revert to the original file or have all the default configuration files in case you do something wrong.

I would not expect 16 bit color to be any faster than 32, since most graphics paths are specifically optimized for the 32 bit case.  16 bit might even  be slower, not to mention uglier.

Each time i download ps and open it it looks fine, when it gets to the charactar selection screen there is a message that says new updates availible and then dissapears , i pick my charactar, click ok, it starts loading and then  i get the message that says planeshift 018_static has quit unexpectedly!

I donwloaded every planeshift from all the mac mirrors and i used janners' mirror multiple times and they all have exactly the same problem...

-sorry if this post has been made before...

It looks like a whole lot of people are having very similar if not exactly the same problems to mine.

I hope things get fixed soon. :-\
