Minor system message error
« on: February 09, 2007, 02:00:56 pm »
I'm not sure if it's just me, but the letter 'R' seems to be missing from all floating system messages.

That's with everything on default since the update...

I don't think it has anything to do with the update. I have seen it before the latest update and it is something that comes and goes. Just restart your client and it is back to normal, or you will get a different letter that looks wrong. The reason is unknown (at least to me).

Yes, I have it too.
I have asked both PS and CS devs about it and they point fingers at eachother :P

When labels of items have a corrupted display we have this from the Help Icon:

Quote

Ulitity Commands

|- /quit
|- /echo
|- /confirm
|- /ping
|- /help
|- /screenshot
|- /graphicbug
|- /tip
|- /motd
|- /repaintlabels      /repaintlabels

Will redraw corrupted labels. "/repaintlabels force"
can be used if the regular command doesn't work.

Would it be possible to code a similar /command: "/repaintmessages" -for use when the System Messages are similarly corrupted when displayed on screen...?

- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

I reinstalled the client and the problem went away.

I reinstalled my client 10 times and rebuilt my CVS client a huge number of times, no difference ;)
I've heard that it's a problem in PAWS though, maybe somebody could look at that one time.

I have never experienced such an issue and I have the suspect that it might be a bit graphic card related.
I suppose it is some rendering issue, but these things are quite nasty to investigate :-)

I suggest also to report the issue in a bug report in the bugtracker.
