I guess this doesn't really belong on this forum, but if I was travelling at night through ojaveda, I might want to be listening to something in this style.

I made this recording to show friends how my new guitar sounds.  It's just a short clip of me improvising in a semi-open tuning.  It wasn't recorded under ideal conditions, there's no reverb or fancy editting, it's not meant to be brilliant, and there's some buzz from strings vibrating against my fingers because I'm tired and I don't feel like having a second go at it.

I like them too as long as they aren't too bright and shrill.  Part of it has to do with mic location - I just had it sitting on a table.  If nothing else, they let you know it's not midi.:)

Noises like that are great if you have some stereo reverb because they fly around all the place and really add dimension to the recording.  The problem is that it sounds less intimate.  Also, outdoor sounds do not reverberate unless there's something for the sound to bounce off of, so reverb isn't always appropriate.  To get sound sources to sound like they're further away without adding reverb, you roll off bass and treble frequencies, but that doesn't add a sense of left-right dimension to the recording in and of itself.

I always get a kick out of it when I'm watching some sort of TV show and the actors are talking with eachother in a cathedral or auditorium so there's a lot of echo.  And then once they get into the parking lot, the echo doesn't disappear.  You would think stuff like that would be easy to catch.

I like it. Some more structure and you'd have a nice instrumental piece. Nice.

I've been asked to post music more often.  I don't think it's worth making another thread, so I'm posting this here.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=658240&songID=5184205

It's a backing track I made last night for one of my bands.  It's not meant as a final recording - it's just something to chart out the song and to give the lead guitarist something to jam to.

Great sound! I love aucustic guitars! Tough when it comes to the drum snare it's a bit to frequent..
The time between the 3+3+3(and so on) should be a bit longer. The 'quiet' space between 3+3+3
should be so long so it makes 4+4+4 instead. It's hard for me to explain exactly what i mean but
this link does it in an easy way http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-count--bars-to-a-beat-mix-like-pros%20AJ8E9/cVmdg%3d

He is not on this subject but the same basics for making music now as it would suit in a medieval setting.

I don't understand what you mean.  The song is mostly in 2+2+3 time (7/8 time).

I think he means the groups of three on the ride.

@Tabasco_Lyaph complex tempo in music always are confusing...

The song is mostly in 2+2+3 time (7/8 time).

Numbers are the pulse, and the X are the ride hits.
Code: [Select]
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 -
(I hope you can see this monospaced) In other words, ride hit at "1", "2", "3", "4 and a half", "5 and a half", "6 and a half"... and finish the bar

BTW... nice rhythm patterns Zanzibar!

Ooooh.  I see.  Tabasco_Lyaph is saying that it should be in 4/4, not 7/8.

No. :)

What he was saying - I think - is that you should have groups of four with longer rests between them.

Groups of four what?  Beats, measures?  I want to understand, but I don't.
