Graphics gone bad
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:59:06 pm »
Graphics card: ATI Radion 9550
Memory: 512MB RAM
Driver is up to date.
I am able to run other 3D games  with no problem.
Every time I try to run it, where the 3D graphics should be, all the textures have gone wronge, the lighting is off, the colours are off. All of these factors make it unplayable. Anyone got any ideas?

Absolutely sure you have the most recent driver version?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I'm around 96.725% sure, give or take 5%
I checked the website, did a drive update check, found I needed a small update and installed the latest, rebooted (boot down, wait 1 minute, boot up) and it still wont work.

*edit*

My brother says that turning off lightmaps or lighting might help. Anyone know of a way to do this, please?

-Don't doublepost, use modify instead.
-No, that's not possible. Everything would be black.

Sorry about the double post.

My brother has turned off the lightmaps using " -fullbright" on the end of the shortcut's target. It is a bit easier to see now but still unplayable and there is still a lag or slowdown effecting it making it unplayable (forgot to tell about the lag/slowdown thing before).

You can try Omega's ATI drivers, they have a very good user interface. The OpenGL adjustments are very good. A new release was made just days ago.

fullbright remove the lightmaps and makes the life easier a bit for your graphic card. However, it takes away some good part of the "entertaining" of PS (since the graphic imho is the best part ;D) and it is a bit considered a chit ;-P
It seems like you are having a drivers problem.
Have you been able to play PS without problems before?

This is the first time I've ever played it. I've played other 3D games with no trouble. I think it would now be barely playable if it were not for the slowdown. I realy want to play Plane Shift because it sounds like a great game :(. The strange thing is that when I enter the game the hud works fine, and all the text works fine, it's only a big slowdown and the textures on the 3D objects that are going wrong. I'll check once again about my graphics card's drivers but I realy think they're up to date.

Ok, I am really sorry for this inconvenience, but unfortunately PS is quite "sensitive" about graphics.
I hope we can manage to sort out your problem as well!

You could try installing some older drivers, sometimes the newly released drivers contain new problems that the older ones dont.
