Month waiting?
« on: February 24, 2007, 08:02:08 pm »
I did one petition today, in game, because i'm tired of trying to get Polyuntri quest..
I had to delete that quest to do another quest (a bug?), and now i can't get his quest again (another bug?)

Then, one GM got my petition:

- Hello I am looking at your petition. There is a time out on quests, some up to a month, so keep trying.

Then i said:
Okay! the same as the winch quest? i did all BD quests - only Polyuntri left - and Amidison quest, as Raithen told me to do before and he didn't give me his quest

and GM said: all quest have same, so just keep trying, have fun

i said:
But it's strange.. i have to wait one whole month to do one quest that i never got before..

GM said: some quest require you complete other quests first.

i said: This information is not enough.. i did a lot of quests since the winch quest comes, at BD only Polyuntri quest left (because of this "bug?"). sorry, but it's because i'm getting tired of tries, it's frustrating, and PS don't have many explanations to users

no one answer from the GM anymore..

-----

Well.. "have fun" ? Who have fun getting this trouble? Who have fun waiting one whole month to try again one quest that you had to delete to try another one..

And "keep trying" ? We have to keep trying like an retard to get the quest? We have to flood NPC's to get the quest?

Month waiting is too much fro any player to wait.. Hoping to don't get the "No job for you today" again and wait another month, and another and another..

I think GMs and Devs have to help users, giving good explanations and not saying "keep trying", "have fun".. you're keeping informations.. and users need this informations to enjoy the possibilities of PS..

This sounded like "downsizing". Some kind of euphemism directed at the player to inform that if it's the way things are and nothing is going to change it. Although it's a really bad euphemism, and seemingly ironic.

---

Anyway I guess the anti-transparency rule means soon this will be deleted.

I think the point is that you should abandon your attempts for now and find some other way to have fun. If you happen to be back in the Bronze Doors region by all means check if the quest is available but do not obsess about it, there is more to the game than the quests and the fact there is only one way into the winch only means that there will be that much more to it once you get access.

Yes the GMs definatly don't want us having fun! Heaven forbid they would want that!!

What I meant is that it was a less obvious way of saying that the way quests work currently won't be changed for now because many dislike it.
After all:

"Testers first, Players second"

Also it may mean to many people

Have fun in another game if you aren't having on this one because it is going to work this way for now.

Because many dislike it? Wha? The quests won't be changed for the reason that many people don't like them? Please, think before you post?

And that proves that the GMs who devote their time to the game don't want the players to have fun how? How does that prove that, for the reason of people wanting quests changed, that quests will not be changed?

You're very good at misinterpreting things :) The GM probably meant what he/she said - have fun! Is it that impossible to imagine? Drag your head out of the bucket of gloom you seem to be carrying around with you all the time lately.

Lebre: A month sounds like a ridiculous amount of time for a lock-out... I certainly hope we have no such time limits on any quests, and I will ask around to make sure. This issue may be related to this thread from Zanzibar, although again I will have to ask around to be certain.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

This issue may be related to this thread from Zanzibar,

Well, good to see that someone agrees.  Get back to us, since I've heard multiple references to month long lockouts, but think it seems quite long.

---

I doubt it's related to the issue Zanzibar has, which is with the problem that some quests can only ever be gotten once (to my knowledge), including the Energy Glyph quest.  Certainly in my experience, the quest isn't given out a second time, even a month later after discarding the completed quest (due to having sold the quest reward accidentally in a bag with all my other glyphs due to a lag incident with lag and then a click that sold all my glyphs instead of the tefusang teeth I had clicked on to sell--I'm lucky a friend had a spare glyph that I could buy).

Edit:  Or the more then a month long ago that I discarded a particular quest dealing with returning a book and getting a new one, which I haven't been able to get again, which I think might be unrepeatable.

PS has many ways to enjoy oneself, questing is only a part of it, Yes it is frustrating to have to repeatedly try for a quest, so take a brake from questing and try for it later.
When I say have fun, I mean have fun, do not sit there days on end driving yourself mad, go do something else in game.
Run your permissions at least once a week. You will be amazed what it can solve.

Doing other things and "forget" about this troubles just makes me accommodated.. and that's not i want to do..
I need to mobilize people, to show them these problems i got.. to don't make them acommodated with this things too..
Because we are testers, but we are players too, as Annera said.. And sometimes i feel like a doll from a puppetmaster, only waiting for commands.. waiting till someone get intention on fix that..
And as I said, I need more explanations from GMs and Devs.. Not something like "Please, go and try other things" - [you don't said these words, but had the intention] - as you give all i need to know, but don't give me nothing.
But I'm waiting Karyuu to check about the problems with the "month wait", thanks.

The longest time for a quest lock-out on repeatable quests is a week - believed to be in-game time, not real-life time. There are some nonrepeatable quests however - perhaps this is one of them? I'm unsure, and hopefully someone around here will know. The situation/problem with nonrepeatable quests is known and Xillix, Vengeance, and Talad were discussing it earlier. Hopefully an agreeable solution will be seen soon.

This quest is not nonrepeatable. Well, wasn't before the PS update hehe
Ah, and i'm trying the quest over than one in-game week.. strange.. maybe some technician for the NPC's can take a look =)
Thanks
