;) yeah, im not quite that wierd, but it is a pretty odd thing for a wallpaper, the full thing does look pretty though, regardless of what the subject material is :)

Chem/contrails are a good guess, so along those lines......

Vapour or smoke trails from a groups of formation flying planes, like the SnowBirds,  Blue Angels, ThunderBirds,  Red Arrows, Patrulla Aguila, Frecce Tricolori, Patrouille Suisse, or Patrouille de France.

Thats the nearest we are going to get I think, you said the keyword 'Nukes' :D

Its a picture of a Peacekeeper nuclear weapon delivery vehicle, an MIRV (Multiple Independently-targetable Re-entry Vehicle) test. No warheads on board, just the MIRV :)
