Mining items
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:43:43 pm »
After mining gold for quite a time I have amassed a small fortune.  And I have found that there really is nothing for me to spend it on.  I bought armor and weapons, although I don't need them.  I even bought some glyphs.  My point is, my character is a miner.  And, miners make quite a bit of trias. The only items you can really buy for mining are picks.  I can buy three picks for one gold ore.  So my suggestion is adding more items for the miners, and crafters, and people who don't want weapons.  Maybe different clothing, styles of picks, workers (like servants who you pay to mine for/with you), more pets, ect.  I just think that I should have more things to spend my trias on.  My mining character wears full leather, with a merc. helm, an opale encrusted broad sword, a turquiose encrusted short sword, and alexandrite encrusted dagger, an embosed dagger, a mining pick, and a ring of familiar.  The only things that I need in that whole set are my pick, and my ring.  I rarely use anything else.  So maybe adding work-boots that improve running speed for miners coming back to town.  Or blacksmith's gloves that help prevent burns or add to blacksmith skills.  Carts and booths for miners to carry their ores and merchants to show their items. A whole array of different picks, hammers, riveters, ect.  I just think we need more items that would help the players who are crafters, merchants, and blacksmiths, and not fighters.  Just more of a balance.  There are already multiple types of armors, and helms, magical swords, different styles of swords, different styles of weapons, and yet there are only two kinds of picks and hammers, and no clothing.

Well you could hire a body guard to protect you from the thieves which should be waylaying you on the road from the mine. Your problem is that the whole system is rather undeveloped and theoretically there should be a whole host of thieves preying on the gold miners, the gold mine should be further from town and for the payoff you are getting off extremely easy.

Because the rafinery was first and then the mine. That's one of few possible reasons ;P

Because for the most part ore bearing land is unsuitable for farming and generally supporting a large populous. I do realize that is not always true. Large cities generally grow up where it is easy to feed the people and mines tend to be discovered in more rugged territory.

I cannot think of any major city on Earth which grew up beside a gold mine, there may be some but for the most part I think there were only small towns that became abandoned when the lode played out. The whole endless gold mine just outside of the largest town deal is a little unrealistic and I expect it will change eventually.

I would like to have pick upgrades as well. A better pick could be required to mine certain types of ore. A higher level could also be required to mine certain ore.

If you need something to spend your money try noobs. There are always noobs in need of financial aid. Buy books, some are very pricey. Start a guild and pay for the training of any warriors in the guild. Buy up rare and unique items and trade them around with people, basically establish your own bazaar. Fund events like tournaments, poetry contests, and races. Or if you want to cause an uproar but a bounty on someone's head. *shrugs* There are a lot of things to spend money on.
