Kimlorm's quest
« on: March 26, 2007, 12:58:48 am »
I got the Kimlorms quest to have a helmet. I got his book and go to find Murago... He doesn't want the book, I've tried to make him questions like "Kimlorm sent me" "Tell me about Talad" and much more but nothing works. I still have the quest, what should I do?

Nobody in the game could help me.

As you make friends, help will be more forthcoming, so don't give up.  Also, asking fellow travelers in the immediate area politely yields good results.

I've just spoken with someone who has the same problem as this. Having used the exact phrase that I used to solve the quest, in the same case, he has failed to complete it.

Supposedly there are two quests, one where you're given a book and one where you're told to get the same book. I only had one of them, and it worked for me. The person I'm speaking to right now had both, and is unable to complete either. It appears to be a conflict.

And this is in the tech support forum. It's not asking for quest spoilers, it's asking for a solution to a quest bug.

A log used to go here. It was a link so that nobody could accidentally stumble into it, and it contained one tiny spoiler, one which is important in this issue, because it proved that there is a problem with getting the NPC to understand the correct phrase.

Perhaps this is a problem with another quest interfering? I have seen nothing about this quest being the only one open - thus if there are others, you may have to discard them. Generally you should only attempt one quest at a time, until all our quest problems are solved.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

The problem with that is they can't be discarded, because they can't be obtained again. I do think that it is a conflict, but until once-only quests can be discarded, i don't know that there is a solution?

You may not be able to drop some quests. Those quests can only be completed once.

I'm that person...

here's my log in regards to obtaining the quests:

This is also a potential spoiler: don't read it if you enjoy challenges

Well, the problem is that Kimlorm gave you a different book for his quest. You need to ask him for Symbols of talad :P Now you have to finish the quest you obtained first before you can finish the second one, because they involve the same NPC (I had this problem with one involving Levrus a while ago)

(I've been under the impression that it was the same book, which it isn't)

If there are two quests from the same NPC in conflict with one another and the only solution is to discard one, but you're afraid that you won't be able to pick it up again, there's nothing we can help you with at the moment. We do know there are such issues around, and our Settings team and coders will be working hard to find agreeable solutions. Until then, you will have to sit tight and perhaps try other quests.

Also: Please refrain from posting spoilers on the board. If you need help with a quest bug, try to contact our GM team, or people like Xillix and Jeraphon (or myself if they are ever unavailable). You can be vague and still explain the problem. If you require showing logs with NPC conversations, however, you will have to contact people for help privately.

Sigh. they made it impossible to discard those quests. And is there really a problem with linking to a spoiler, after warning that it's a spoiler, for the sake of troubleshooting especially if all it contains is what to say to the NPC, which can be near impossible to find out because they don't understand normal sentences.

Some quests are easy as cake when it comes to knowing what to say to an NPC :) And yes, linking to a spoiler is no better than having a spoiler in your post. I'm asking people nicely not to do it, and I've explained what to do if you feel that a log is absolutely necessary. In this case I think we already established the problem - quest interference - and so the NPC logs serve no purpose, nor give any aid.

Conceded. However before the problem was worked out, the log would have been useful. I just think it's a little over the top.

Er, sorry for being grumpy ^_^'

Having many quests on the go at one time increases the chance that you will have a problem, I have found however that you do not need to delete these quests, I say again DO NOT DELETE A QUEST. IF you are stuck at a NPC, look at what quests you have, and try each one in tern, one WILL work, basic rule is first quest you get is one to try first, so remember what quest you have obtained, and the order you got them in.
Run your permissions at least once a week. You will be amazed what it can solve.

Can't delete them anyway.

In this case, solving the first one is now reported impossible too (using the same phrase that i used to solve the same quest)

This is a really bad conflict :/

I used the same phrase with no results, both NPC's are unresponsive to terminology from either quest

No fun...
