About the Messenger Bag (discretely)

So I am doing this quest and NPC A has the item I need for NPC Z but he wants something from NPC F who wants something I cannot figure out. Now A told me that NPC R could not find out he was in possession of the item I need when he sent me to F to get the item he wants to exchange for it. My complaint is I cannot figure out how to tell R that A has the item that apparently belongs to R that A doesn't want R to know he has. Is it possible to tell R, is it slated to be possible but not currently or am I just wasting my time in which case why does A bother mentioning R in the first place?

Now that's a clear, definitely not confusing, sketch of the situation! 

I finished the quest and found it utterly obvious .. so all I can say is it wasn't bugged a few weeks ago and it wasn't difficult to think of the right sentences either. Think simple

Well I tried a bunch of things until I was ready to ralph  , now I am not so sure I want to complete it and was hoping for an alternate end.

No, not quite, I want to rat on A to F, or possibly to P or Q but I hadn't thought that out too much. I've already ratted out B to P to join organization x, so ratting on A would be in character. Oh wait! I got confused myself, it is R I want to tell about A, not F. No wonder you got confused. I actually did try to tell R unsuccessfully. Let me go back and fix that.

I did manage to complete that quest anyway which is what the second half of that quote was referencing. I already informed on another npc. I do hope you were adressing the second half of the quote as well but if not it is
