/select path --> /follow path (allows talking while moving along a safe, predefined path.)
/follow <character> (Same as above. Only works while leader is walking, and in the safe park)
/walk random (makes your character stroll randomly at half speed)
/smell <object> (flowers, etc..)

A good reason to have a park is for mental and physical stamina regeneration (AKA, relaxing). Problem is, no point in that when all stamina regens in less than five minutes. Unless there is an actual use to a place, no one will use it no matter how pretty it looks.

I love the follow idea \\o// , I've been wondering if that was possible, since it would make leading noobs easier. For practical use it would probably be better if you can get exclusive items from the park. That's the main reason why many travel to the BD and struggle to get to the winch.

Maybe there could be an artist in the park that could teach painting *coughs*once implemented*coughs* and could sell painting for houses *coughs*once implemented*coughs*. That would be nice.

Also maybe there could be stat bounus in certain areas of the park, like for intelligence. For instance if you go to a quiet spot in the park, put something in mind and work on it there and learn faster. I'm sure not all crafting will need to be done in one spot, like by the furnace) throughout the whole process. I'm not sure since I'm no crafter and I don't really understand how that work.

Unless there is an actual use to a place, no one will use it no matter how pretty it looks.

There is a way to make a park full of green and nature, be useful(at least for some of the characters):

Legalize it!  :P

*Annera would probably think "Government should not interfere, specially when they forbid one think and allows other, both being addictive and bad"

Otherwise... if there is enough vegetation, it will be a great place for sharpshooters with crossbows ready to kill the bounty, or for people to run from the cops.

Now on more solid grounds:

  • Free development of brown way by "Being in communion with nature" for the PS "vegans"
  • Free development of Endurance, Strenght and Agility by walking and having places to train and practice sports(Even in our capitalistic society it is very possible to improve your own strenght without paying a "trainer", this is one of the main bad things about Planeshift current system, the other is "kill 1000000 times the same rogue to become a master in mining")
  • Free development of empathy as well, if you approach the animals that live on it
  • Free development of perform skills by going on a stage, and slow development of charisma as well

I could list more skills that could be improved on a park, if there is so much need of appeasing the "achievers" and not only the "socializers"

Yeah I really agree with the second one

and well     I      will use the park and so will most of my friends here...   There... people will use it now... happy?

I think this would be a complete waste of the Dev's time and effort, creating a new map for a park just seems silly to me. We aleady have huge parks in-game, BD roads 1&2, Oja roads 1&2 are some of the biggest parks I have ever seen. Add a few trees and flower gardens here and there, and there ya go, a nice perty park for folks to waste time in. For those who think it is really needed, I believe another game has been suggested and I think it is on sale right now due to the new release of "OUTSIDE- Park Edition" Better hurry before it is sold out :P

I'm wondering if the majority of the posters in this thread have ever been to a real park.

;) I think that depends on "Where in the word and which park" you choose, also what time off day ;)
On a hot summer day BIG parks are cleaned very early in the morning, put a few homeless out of it and by midday it's full of happy (so it seems) smiling people haveing a good time (again so it seems), and dawn those poeple leave and by midnight homeless return and take a nap  :whistling: that's one example

Now in Planeshift I've only encountered one (very friendly) 'homeless' [Don't got bickering 'noone owns a real home in PS' you know what i mean ;)] So that 'problem' we would have, Also for the junkies... Well the only damaging drug in PS is either alcohol or lake mushroom, we may have a few probs with that BUT  I'm sure the PS government isn't that harsh to let them get beaten up by 'city guards', So the junkies won't have that much to complain about aslong as they stay clear of robbing people (And because alcohol is so cheap and lake mushrooms still grow in the wild, not a real reason to get all 'robby' ;) )

:D So it's pretty much possible to have a nice 'American Dream' kinda park in PS

A golf green with benches and monkey bars does not a park make.

We (I mean I but We sounds more convincing xD) Call that a Natural park  ;) One  which is ment for it's beauty of nature (as far as that goes with highways beside it)
Such a park is not ment to carry the burden of Ciry folks who seek relaxation  :D
* Illyria smiles "luckily I'm no city folk"
[Though, some annoying people think it's the [purpose of such parks to be there for taking photo's of it , every animal they *snap* every big tree "Hun stand beside it"*snap* öh look a iece of land with freeway *snap* "smell the air" *snap* ïsn't this beautiful?"*snap**snap**snap* ]

I once got lost in 60,000 acres of uncharted wilderness.  Fortunately I was only 8 miles from the edge of civilization and I was able to find my way out.
