CDC0 Project - Carpe Diem MMORPG Game Revival Petition
« on: April 20, 2007, 07:55:36 pm »
Hello all,
Some of you may have heard of Carpe Diem, some of you have not. More than likely a large majority of you haven't. I am here to support what Ex-Carpers have been promoting for the past couple of days. 3 days ago a tiny portion of what is left of the Carpe Diem community,
came up with the idea to start a petition for the revival of the game Carpe Diem.

We need your help. As of now we have a little over 100 signatures, while we are aiming for 500+. Reason being is were working with a past CEO of Persistent Worlds that ran the CD game for the Western world. He has agreed to display this petition to GNISoft (Korean Developers of Carpe Diem), if and only if we get enough signatures that will impress. For this to occur we can't just have past CD players get involved, we need others to find an interest in this project as well.

The Carpe Diem community was very small to begin with, mainly due to poor marketing strategies. To go out of our way and try to bring this game back you know it must be something special. I feel very strongly that everyone should be able to experience this game.
I do not mean just disliking the interface and saying screw this game; I mean really delving into the game play and story of Carpe Diem.

What was great about this game was the in game events and the community. As I have heard PS here is a tight knit community as well.
So you can possibly relate to where us Carpers are coming from. To have this game ripped from you out of nowhere, it's disturbing.
Ever since we have been trying so damn hard to keep everyone in touch, some attempts have been a success some have not.

We welcome you to take part in this project by supporting our efforts to reviving Carpe Diem. What you can get from this experience is knowing that you just might have such a great impact to bringing a game such as this (that is widely well known and popular in Korea & Japan) back where it belongs, and that is in the players hands. Also, you may want to try out the game if this project does become successful. Under the agreement terms you are to become a beta tester when they request so. That is purely up to you, though we would love to see you experience what we have experienced. We also state that we suggest that this version of Carpe Diem to be F2P with an item mall/premium membership options. Since one of the other reasons CD fell was it is F2P in Korea and Japan with an item mall.

There is a news article that can be found here: http://www.mpogd.com/news/?ID=2601
Everything is there to guide you in taking part in this project. The link to the petition is found there as well.

We really need all the help we can get. So those who love helping others out, this is for you...And those who are beta testers :beta:
this is also a good chance to get in on the action.

You do not have to register on the forums, you only have to post under the petition topic as a guest. It will take 2 minutes of your time at most. We aren't asking for much. You are more than welcome to join our community. We talk about upcoming mmorpg's and just chat about random things :P

I thank you for taking your time and reading this topic. Please feel free to speak you mind and ask any questions as I would be more than happy to respond. Thank you, ~Rhiannon

One question:

Why?

I think the "how could this really be achieved?" is also something important to have an answer about. Now if this is a $ MMORPG, where we beta-test 'till it reaches 1.0 then we have to pay for it, I then will avoid it and hope nobody testing it for free will serve as an incentive for hiring a beta-tester. You know, with unemployment and all, not a bad idea to avoid doing things for free if you think about.

We do not want to let this game slip away out of our hands. I adore the community too much to let this happen. The game may not be visually stunning but it was really unique and eye catching. I just haven't found a game like this since, that is what makes it stand out. A lot of us haven't. With your help I think we can do this. No need to register on the forums, only post as a guest. You do not need to leave your email, I can always contact you on here if this project is successful to notify you of your beta testing.

This petition is to bring the game back as F2P. This was one of the reasons it didn't do good. There were loads of players on the servers before P2P came out. Once P2P hit people left. So no way do we wish to have a repeat episode of a falling company. PW will not be coming back soon, and if they do take this to GNISoft if we get enough signatures than they will probably become the distributors. They have been very successful. In Japan CD is known as Cardinal Saga, in Korea it is Carpe Diem. Csaga.jp Look, it's massive there :)!

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. We need all the help we can get, were not doing so great.
Ty for your time. ~Rhiannon

Carpe Diem MMO Petition Revival Progress (CDC0 Project)

"Greetings Carpe Kin and visitors alike!

We have some very exciting news regarding our efforts to bring back the MMORPG, Carpe Diem.

The petition has been doing great, and people have shown the game wonderful support. We have reached over 270 signatures so far, which is incredible for a game that barely left the gate from Beta!

Spurred into action by our progress, two different companies have expressed interest in taking on the responsibility of the game. One is based in Germany, whereas the other is American. For legal reasons they cannot be named at this time.

Both companies have been extensively discussing their possiblities with Persistent Worlds Ltd CEOs and the Korean developers for several weeks now, and interest seems to be remaining high!

Whilst this is exciting news, I must stress that nothing has been set in stone, nor have any decisions been made by the companies involved. So don't get too excited. wink.gif

But this proves that petitions do work when many people band together to show their support and loyalty for something they love. So now is the time to pull in every last signature we can get. Get all your friends to sign, remind old forums about the cause (make sure to tell them about these new developments!) and we can really be the deciding factor in whether this happens or not."

You still have a chance to sign the petition which can be done here:

We thank everyone thus far who has participated in our efforts to bring back Carpe Diem/Cardinal Saga from the dead.
Kind regards,
Rhiannon
