As Andywyr opened the letter from the Octarch, he knew that the task ahead would not be simple. The Octarch had often asked strange things of him before, and he had no doubts that the Octarch would do it again. The letter was written in gold ink, as was usual for a message from such a high office. The letter was as follows:
For the eyes of Andywyr Morvaynnen, Diplomat of the Second Order of Hydlaa, and for the eyes of those he deems worthy,
Master Morvaynnen, I tire of the boredom in this city. As the years pass, I feel age taking hold of my body, but I still yearn for entertainment. In some cultures, fighting is often used as a way to pass the time, and I see why there should not be an exception here.
Hereby, I decree that you will organise a tournament in my name, the Octarch's Championship. Offer a reward for a grand prize, put up signs around Hydlaa, whatever it is you will, but ensure that it is ready in three weeks time. My resources are at your disposal. And remember, Andywyr, if you do not succeed, I shall be greatly displeased.
So has spoken the Octarch of the First Level of Yliakum.
Andywyr slumped back into his chair. He knew that it would be imposssible to organise such a large event in so little time, but in his mind, ideas were already forming ...

---------------
A somewhat less quick guide
Anybody in the game of Planeshift is invited to take part in the Octarch's Championship. Weaker players do not need to fear, as there are three divisions, based on overall strength. This ensures that weaker players won't face invincible foes. The set up of the tournament is very simple. The three officials (myself, Agara, Otulely) will organise a schedule for fights, according to when players can come online. Two players will be matched up, and they will then fight a duel in the Arena. The loser will no longer be part of the Championship, the winner will go on to the next round of matches.
The fights will take place in the week of May 12 to May 19, as this allows for those who cannot go online on certain days to fight on other days. The three divisions will be formed according to your overall strength rating in the game. Whether you are in the highest division or the lowest, the prize is the same. The divisions will be formed on the day of the matches, as this allows for players to train beforehand.
The reason we need an entry fee is so we can have a grand prize. The money collected from entrants will be split in three, one part for the winner of each division. This means that we cannot say what the prize is at this time, but keep posted later on. Also, the more people that join, the higher the prize goes!
