Local radio from around the world
« on: April 26, 2007, 03:39:38 pm »
I know a lot of you listen to your favorite music while playing, but do any of you listen to your local radio stations?

This is a link to my favorite local station Q92, They have a 'Listen Live' link near the top left.
(it is a Java link so it changes constantly, or I would post a direct link)
Q92 Is In Sudbury Ontario, Canada.

If any of you have Live broadcasts from your local stations, I think it would be a lot of fun checking them out.

Hear is one I listen to.  I'm older than a lot of you guys so my tastes are a little different.

This is the local radiostation here in Baltimore and apparently one of the very first "alternative" stations.

http://www.whfs2.com

direct link to listen now:  http://cbsplayer.streamtheworld.com/index.php?CALLSIGN=WHFSHD2

Note: you may have to register, but if I click the link it works...

Enjoy

- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

It is interesting how the style of variaty changes from different areas. This is great, I was getting board with local radio, I could with a high sucses rate predict each new song to be played. I guess everyone can do that to an extent after listening for a long time and getting used to the style.

Here is another local station with a different format Big Daddy - 'Playing Anything'

Just found this Site, RadioStationWorld allows you to choose stations from everywhere ;)

I normally listen to Last FM. It's a downloadable and runs from the desktop. That way if I don't like the song I can just skip it. Also, no annoying DJ's or talk-shows. Lets me tune in to whatever style of music I like. Other one I used to use was Pandora. I tend not to listen to local stations, if I do I lean toward independent ones. You know ones that Clear Channel doesn't run.
