I know a good offline free(both on the meaning of being free of charge and Open-source) game that works on Mac.

Vegastrike: Space Sim(Like Freelancer and the classics Elite and Wing Commander), multiplayer support on alpha testing(Planned to become MMO in the future) and some mods also being worked in paralell with the main project. Current stable version: 0.4.3 (If you're in a hurry, you can try getting the CVS version, but I wouldn't advise that)

Offtopic:

Quick note, time to tell a truth now that I mentioned this other game:

When VS becomes MMO(Don't worry about it now, as it will happen SOON(TM) ), I'll probably leave Planeshift due to my very strong preference of sci-fi over fantasy and of mainly player-skill based games over player-luck and character skills based ones, and due to the fact there is space for making a radical faction in VS(In fact some already exist on the official history of it) and for joining several completely different and unique future societies as well. Add to that the facts wars and all kinds of conflicts will be much more common from its history line, that you won't have to "grind" ships or rely on rolling dices for combat like in EVE and you'll see why I prefer what VS will become over what PS will become.

P.S.: I said "probably", not "for sure" ;)

Right.

Subspace is indeed playable on any intel based macintosh without too many issues. At work I have the following machine:

MacMini
1.6ghz Intel Core Duo
1gig of ram
OS X Tiger

I setup Parallels RC, and created a vmsession of WinXP. I only had 256megs dedicated to WinXP, but Continuum seemed to run fine at 1024x1280(i run page view on my lcd lol). It gave good fps over 100 most of the time, although sometimes there seemed to be some strange framelag. I would guess that giving the vmsession more ram would increase performance. Vmsessions with less taxing OS's would likely work better also...win2k, win98se...etc etc...

I did not try Bootcamp, because there's no point in testing that. It will just work, and likely work better. I prefer Parallels though, since I can jump back and forth between OS X and WinXP without rebooting...

PowerPC people are out of luck...Apple has abandonned you bastards anyways lol...

Thats why I am looking for a good 100% free game for mac well sort of 100% but no demos or buying discs montly cost etc.

Ounce again I can find a pc game at the drop of a hat - now I baught my mac just before Intel macs were released... wich stinks  X-/

Anyway unfortunately I am quite picky with graphics - the wost graphics I can stand is that of Puzzle Pirates, wich was only forgiven by its good gameplay... then my friend came over and got banned a few weeks later, this banned every
computer he played on - his and mine  X-/ X-/

I checked out vegastrike  well it was really complicated  :( and well now it wont go from my computer - I cant shut down because I am in the middle of a 2gig download that has taked almost three days  :sweatdrop:

but thanks anyway ( to everyone apart from the person that suggested planeshift as a game ) :P

( update )

I downloaded Flight gear, good game, good graphics, very very confusing

How could I forget about that one?  ???

Now, if you don't mind playing clones of, famous commercial games, and are a fan of 4X, there is FreeCiv(Civilization 2 Clone) and it has multiplayer support:

@ZEN: After all, I think you should stay clear of flight simulators, specially open source ones, as they tend to be "very very confusing".
