Houses?
« on: March 11, 2003, 01:35:19 am »
I don;t know if this has already been brought up, but you should be able to have somthing ingame or somthing where you can buy, build and customize your own house... but on the property that you bought... or like burned down or took over or somthing... i think there are going to be houses but being able to put one in the remotest of places or somwhere thats not taken like in the middle of a forest or somthing... not a bad idea i guess... or is it?

Yeah its been brought up before, you\'ll probably find it in the search area. I think they\'ll let you build anywhere if you build it yourself. And houses cant really be ransacked.

While it\'d be cool there are many reasons ransacking a house is not possible:

1.  There is no Pking, so there will be no way to retaliate

2.  People will abuse it and ransack every house they see

3.  Houses will be expensive, and it would be VERY annoying to have them ruined

4.  Since it holds items, it would also be annoying to lose these

Hopefully the housing system doesn\'t degrade into what Ultima Online housing became. There was no space for a house, and the landscape was littered in wierdo houses.

I agree that having houses ransacked would definately ruin it for alot of people. You\'d be losing alot of work if you lost it. Also there will probably have to be some kind of limit to houses being built \'everywhere\'. Otherwise you would eventually run out of land to build houses, and any new people that come along and want to play would be out of luck... I\'m not sure about how you could make it fair and keep it enjoyable for everyone, but if anybody has ideas feel free to post them.  :)

Maybe one the developers can answer this question for me, but in the list of priorities, how high is creating in-game housing? Secondly, is this something we'll see before a  0.4.000 release or else this more of a 1.0 release item?

I think there is a looooong road to even 0.4 release so it doesn't actually matter

The basic code for houses or guildhalls is actually done already. It just needs more testing and necessary art.
