Ingame Death Sentence
« on: May 07, 2007, 08:14:08 am »
Thinking back on what I did, I remembered that message of Hiacheius Dilechi about a Xacha sentenced to death. It was then that it stroke me: Why would the vigesimi court order someone to be killed? Of course it might be painful, however you do not *die*. You just go to the Death Realm, and although the Death Realm is (or is meant to be) a maze, it is not impossible to get out thus making the Death Sentence absolutely pointless.

Maybe that the Vigesimi court make the person drink a special potion, forbidding him from ever coming out of the death realm? Was the person sent to another place? Did the potion disrupt the transportation of the person, thus making it lost in another strange dimension? Those the vigesimi court have power to control who enters and leaves the Death Realm? I wonder...
Anyway, I hope that the Vigesimi court did not just do a huge mistake, because that would be really dumb from them.

It is not customary to return from the Death Realm after dying, only the 'lucky ones' (read: players) find their way out, the rest stay there for a very long time. Secondly there are also ways to die that do not send you to the death realm but cause a permanent death, old age is one of them .. it could be that there are more.

Either way, being killed and sent to the Death Realm can be seen as a prison sentence of undefined length and torment.

Yeh, it's true that it would be really annoying to be unable to die of old age, and always go back to the Death Realm.

Either way, being killed and sent to the Death Realm can be seen as a prison sentence of undefined length and torment.
Yes, but it isn't a death sentence then, it is a punishment.

Although only the "lucky ones" get to come out of the death realm, the lucky ones is the majority of the population are players, and therefore only the unlucky ones actually do not get out.

I would like to know as well, is it actually the soul wandering in the Death Realm? Or is it the actual person? I have heard both. I guess it makes sense the fact that the body disappears once the person is dead.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Death and the Death Realm are explained in detail in game already. All you have to do is read about it.
