Disappointing movies
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:31:33 pm »
As the server is down and I kinda already have given all my chars a (IMO) Good thought out description I went of for something else to do in the evening/night, Cause kinda where I live there isn't much going on through out the working days and spending all night chatting on MSN, Skype and IRC well... that's not something for me :P
So I decided to see some movies  :D I know a person who works at a video rent out  ;D So I rent them for a (very BIG) little bit less money.
I made up a list of movies I said to myself I was going to see in the theater but for some reason I always forget it  ;)
But to be honest  they all disappointed me, not that they were terrible to watch but more that they were not living up to my expectations  :whistling:
I'll count down to the biggest disappointment last four days (with 5 being: -Wasn't really that bad, and 1 being: -Waste):
5 Hitch hikes guide to the galaxy (It was a nice very movie, though the end was soo, soo, soo, cliché)
4 Star wars III (I would have never though such a movie could be that bad, I mean It's a good movie, but by far the worst of all (Though I and II Pretty much s**ked anyway))
3 Saw III (as the other two it's supposed to be a "Horror" Movie... Well it's just a stupid script with some distasteful images, nothing really horror. Unless you watch it with someone with a weak stomach xD)
2 Superman returns (WTF?! Superman got a baby? and DC says it to let the people know Superman has a 'soft side' ... Yeah right, Giving him a child with a women who is married? And nobody beats the old Superman movies!)
1 Fantastic Four (ARGHGH!!!!!!!!!  :@#\ C'mon compared to this movies even Superman returns looks good. I mean Stony man who gets his life back and the throws it away again? WHO'S FALLING FOR THAT!?)

:P Just letting out some feelings

I find that if you waite to long to see a movie, chances are you will be disappointed. You watch the trailers over and over and start formulating the entire movie in your head. Just being here shows you have a good imagination, so anything you have months to think about, is going to be molded to your preceptions of it.

The movies you listed were ok for what they were, but I have to disagree with Star Wars. I liked it, and I was never a big fan of the other movies that came before, but thats just me ;)

I disagree on all of the above movies, except for Superman Returns. Only Kevin Spacey was good in that one.
And I've never seen the Fantastic Four movie, so I'm not counting it ;)

Now let's see, movies which disappointed me. Hmm.
I don't really watch bad movies :P
Well, there was The Godfather Part Two. All the Godfather films are incredibly good, but Part Two is the lesser of the three, and that disappointed me a tiny bit.
Now I think of it Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" was the lesser one of all their movies too. Too chaotic.
And Serenity, they should've made a mini-series out of it.

We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

My trashcan of the worse

The same old...
  • Mr and Mrs Smith: Crap
  • Most of the "Romantic Comedy" movies, just a bunch of clones of the same crappy mold

I'm scared and thrilled from seeing the same over and over...
  • Scary Movies 3 and other cliche "serial killer/teenager horror" like "Premonition 2"
  • Armaggedon: No comments on this old "end of world" cliche with spacey cowboys

I don't think America's Army is the only thing the U.S. brass funded or influenced... *cough*Roland Emmerich Movies*cough*
  • Independence Day: Patridiotic BS with the "World Policemen" saving the United States planet(how ironic) from the Immigrants Aliens and full of Hollywood cliches, only succeeded by more of Emmerich messianic patridiotism:
  • The Patriot: More cliches, frenchman as "duh" types, English characters as the typical "bad guys" and villains among the rest of cheap characterization of englishmen on the movie, and a single american hero to save the day... *cough* as if Mel Gibson was only responsable the independence of US(The impression the movie makes)... also a detail I found somewhere to add to it: "[a] scene he did in the Patriot was offensively stolen from a real thing that happpened in the HOLOCAUST"

The other side("pinkos") sometimes can compete as well with the previous ones...
  • Fahrenheit 9/11: *yawns* I don't need a movie to know all of that, it only really appeals for those who either hate Dubya to the point of burning photos of him or for those who burn U.S. flags around blaming a whole country for what Dubya does(doubt it could convince the typical "god-fearing right-winged patriotic west coast militiaman" about its claims), and the documentary is overtly biased as well. It has some bright moments though, as the *spoiler begin* scene of the Ice Cream Van with Moore shouting about the "Patriot Act" to the congress.*spoiler end*
  • Super Size ME: As a movie, it is boring as hell, and shows something everybody already know: that Fast Food sucks.

The last disappointing movie i saw was an Ultraviolet. I don't know why one spent so much money for those stupid film :)
But it includes the most funniest video battle i've ever seen: when Milla Yovovitch fight with bad soldiers in something library room - they ran to her with open hands and chest one after one. It was like crasy competition "AAAA, kill me-kill me-kill me, Milla, please!!! Dont kill him - kill me!!!!"

The last film that didn't disapont me (except last scenes) - "300".

LOTR should be watched as ONE movie in one sitting.

just my two trias

Oh, by disappointing do you mean, movies you expected to be good but ended up sucking?  Or can one include movies one thought would suck and actually did?

I think the most recent Greatest of the worst movies ever, would have to go to ........."Hillside Canibals"

Includes;

-Lower than 'B' movie acting (if that is possible)
-Lowest budget for special effects
-Worstest (new word bad) editing ever seen on the big screen
-and much much more......

Ed Wood had nothing on these guys.

A must see for simply the worst movie experience of your life.

Kinda the first one... Because if you already thought it would suck and it did then they DID live up to your expectations ;)

I kinda liked ultraviolet it was wierd but in a good way, I kinda couldn't tell if it was 3d animation (like Final fantasy advent children) or acting ;) was a need effect

And I don't watch "300" kinda moviesThey are (IMO) like LOTR only for some reason boring, I dunno I dislike films about ancient Greeks or whatever {Psst Troy ruined it by telling a whole freaking wrong story >.> <.< I don't trust them filmmakers again} Though i like the books, It should be for books, There is many other things to be told then can fit in a louzy 1-4 hour movie ;)

I liked HHGTTG, Superman returns, FF... well, not so much how they changed Dr. Doom. He's not Dr. Doom if he's not using magic and technology.

LOTR was terrible. Far too overhyped, too long and too short at the same time. And not enough hobbits.

The most recent bad movie I've seen... Mortal Kombat. Thee are a lot of bad movies made out of game,s there are a lot of bad martial arts movies, but... "Flawless victory!" no, he was kinda hit there a few times...

I think I agree on The Meaning of Life, And Now For Something Completly Different was more chaotic in a good way.

*edit I didn't notice I had mispelled Kombat, d'oh.

Mortal Kombat could be on the top list of the "Worst Game Adaptations Ever"
Most movies based on games I saw are crap... "dishonorable" mentions to:

  • Alone In the Dark: A clone of the Resident Evil movie, how could they disfigure such classic from horror games?
  • Doom the Movie: Another Resident Evil movie's clone, the original game with pixellated graphics is much more scary and fun than this
  • Resident Evil(Both movies): B-movie, cheap violence and "horror", and for a funny reason, many of game-based movies imitated it
  • Dungeons and Dragons: They could have done much more... I would rather see something based on Ravenloft or on Planescape(A Planescape based movie would be really weird) than the plot of this adaptation that sounds as a shorter version of LOTR

Silent Hill may be a minor exception, it wasn't very great of a movie, but definitively much above the "standard" of Resident Evil.

Speaking of disapointment!  :(

I remember that website back when they actually reviewed movies... instead of being just a collection of ads and sponsered comments.

i find that the 3rd was the most dissapointing...

any new comic/hero movie

wait

no most about everythign done recently thats a "hit" in theatres right now....

not all...but a good majority have been absolutely terrible for awhile

'she lies with her arms flung out as if to embrace the whole hyancinth-scented, watermelon-colored world.'

Movies are always about prespective...

if your expecting much from a movie your quite likely to not like it thanks to the hype...

however if you plan on assumeing every movie will be a huge turd then its all good...

It explains to me why i thought snakes on a plane, jason x and AvP where funny movies that i'd happly watch again :P

context ftw :)
