Tour guide
« on: March 11, 2003, 03:44:01 pm »
Well have you ever tried Migth and Magic 7.
there is a tour guide there and whenever the character
comes close to a house, there is a small summary
about where it leads to and what you do there.
well newbies can use them once or twice and then turn it off. to get a clear vision of the city.

Personally I\'d like to explore on my own...you could say just to turn it off but its like knowing cheats to a game, you don\'t really want to but at some times its really hard to resist

yeah i understand the thrill of exploring this new world
but maybe be a town map in hydlaa palace like in
balamb garden in FF8.

EDIT

one year later...

the tour guide in M&M7 also introduces to you regulars, buldings, nps, locations etc.

there could also be a job class though that would be boring and lame.

I definitely don\'t like the idea of NPC guides. If you come to a new city, you can ask someone where the best Blacksmith shop or Armor shop is, or take it the other way around, if you own a shop, you can hire people to run around and shout out where your shop is. Besides, if you\'re a new player, there is nothing wrong with asking where the armor shop is or anything like that. :)

Maybe you could just have a tourist office in each town where you are sure to find all the information you need.

In fact I\'m afraid that if you ask to someone you dont know he might lead you to his best friend\'s shop (especially if ure a noob), which reveals itself to have the worst prices of the galaxy...
At least in a secialized office you could have objective information..
