I can´t finish the quests.

Hello,

I dragged the Spell Book window out of window of Planeshift and then i cannot retrieve it so i reinstall the game.

At this point i got three quests to solve :
Vaieund Octarch`s chess quest
Lorytia Starhammer Clan Symbol
Polyuntri needs a key.

Now i cannot solve the first two and i got the items needed for.
I´ve asked ingame at other players and no one knows what can i do.
I´ve submitted a petition with no response, please tell me what i can do, should i discard all three quests, could i do anything?

Whenever you drag a window to a position that renders it unusable again, simply follow #11 in this thread.

If you're getting a message akin to "NPC does not need that" when you try to give them the items you have, you're probably trying to finish the quests in the wrong order (the NPC is waiting for another item or a step from another quest that you got later). So try finishing the quests in another order - probably starting with that third quest you have listed.

Also, sometimes directly giving the item is not the correct thing. You may need to say something first. F.e.:
You say to NPC2: NPC1 sent me
NPC2 says: So NPC1 wants me to look as this item? Could you give it to me?
Then you give the item.

Or try using things like "tell about ...." (where ... is the item, the other npc, something the other npc talked about)

Out of the couple threads I've seen about this quest, this seemed the most logical one to tack a question on to instead of starting a new thread.

Is this quest still buggy?  From what I can get out of forum searches (and I even took a stab at trying to wade thru the old bug tracker ) it seems that people keep getting stuck at different points in this quest.

I'll shoot Jeraphon an e-mail with the specifics, but in the interest of giving a "heads-up" to others (and possibly spare their keyboards when that moment of intense frustration hits) ... I'm curious to know if this one still has issues.

The quest I was referring to was the Lorytia Starhammer Clan Symbol quest.

If you have three quests, chances are good that they might actually be conflicting with each other. It is best to take on no more than one at a time if possible.

But that's not of any help. Normally, when you have some quests stuck over there it is because you just can't finish them... and they will probably remain there forever and ever... or until everything becomes too complicated and you have to bother a poor GM with a request: "please delete all the quests I have unsolved (like 25 or whatever)". You never know who is in some ramification of some unsolved quest... because knowing that "would spoil the fun and the mystery"... so you can be stuck at anything without knowing it.

Let's all acept the fact that a percentage of quests can't be finished in the first try (or maybe ever), and that the player surely has not the strength to continue with that "unsolvable" quest forever and ever. Instead he/she will try to start something different in the hope of getting some reward and not just the redundant "uh?" replies of NPCs.

Considering that some questing is strategical (like factions point for instance), I think that discarding quests should be allowed ASAP (apparently it was possible before, what made things easier for many).

It also broke things for many, and people were reporting exploits on the BugTracker. I already addressed that having players be able to discard any and all quests is not the ideal situation either.

When the quest system is patched up some, there is likely to be a wipe of uncompleted quests so players can give them a try again.

It is the ideal situation, because else you'll always have a bunch of unfinished quests that are interfering (possibly) with your new quests... and the result is a snowball effect of accumulation of unfinished quests. Discarding them would be most useful, really.

We've had many discussions as a team It's not ideal, and I have explained in the other thread why that is. Quests won't always interfere as well, because many issues are constantly being looked into and all bugs get eliminated with time.
