Because no Dev has stepped in to indicate what the purpose behind the discrepencies between the different gains of exp and there for PP. So I took it upon myself, and the only conclusion was that gaining an equal amount of PP through other means would out balance the system in which there would be an over bounty of PP.

So I proposed splitting the PP revenue between the catagories, so practicing mining would gain you PP just for mining or in a more genral means gaining PP for the job catagory. From this, only players entertained their displeasure with the whole of the exp/PP system but not one GM or Dev stepped in to shine some light in the argument.

I then asked, like this post is asking, for the elimination of the exp/PP system, not in a permanet way, but one that could bring back the system if it did not work out. Simply turning off the requirtement by trainers to using PP in training sessions. Easily done on the test server. Leave exp/PP alone in the other regards, make it like the dual points in that they have no purpose than to show self status. That way if the elmination doesn't prove the solution, it is not a major change to turn it back on. But that post was locked and subsiquently deleted. So, till a dev acknowleges what they are intending to do, these discussions are moot and bound to be ingored or locked.

But what the heck... I ask you Dev/GM, what would be the repocussions of turning off the PP system as proposed here?

Valid concerns raised by ais initially have been discussed by the dev team.

Johh is right with placeholder.

Bilbous is 100% right, weapons crafting does require some knowledge of how they actually work in the field. Same is true of armors.

Read the Octarchal Decree, pacifists are possible but all citizens of Yliakum are required to have some weapons and armor training. Additionally the fact that many arguments are settled with duels means it is unwise to have no skill in the martial arts. I do not care what role a player makes up in their head consistency with settings is the beginning of good roleplaying in PS. Any citizen may at any point be conscripted by the Octarchy.

Balance is not easy to attain, patches, proposals etc are welcome. They need not take the form of complaints.

Speak to Xordan he is your balance guru.

So now the people who don't fight are the rebels :P. The current scheme doesn't seem very fair on the lemurs who aren't really up to much fighting.
Hide where they expect you to... Its what they least expect.

fighting consists more of just running out there with a sword drawn and wailing on someone.

you aren't going to win a battle without a little strategy.  someone has to be smart and think those up.

I am sure that lemurs could satisfy their martial obligations with a sufficient expertise in offensive magicks. Possibly as well by being a member of a combat medic unit if their talents ran to healing or some such other scheme with defensive magicks. Miners might be part of an engineer unit (sappers) though they likely would still require arms and armor training. A comprehensive system should be designed by the settings team which would allow all to contributed according to their talents. No-one should be able to forsake any form of military service as per the current regulations.

Heh, where do lemurs come from?

Heh, who said the Octarchy was fair?

I think bilbous' assessment is reasonable.
