Exception Access Violation
« on: June 06, 2007, 05:33:27 pm »
When I try to log into PS, I can get past the character choosing screen, but then it comes up with this message.

Something unexpected happened in PlaneShift: Crystal Blue
Details:EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 01198BFD
Would you like to save a diagnostic file?

This screen comes up every time, and I have tried reinstalling PS. Any help?

Can you post your system specs, like processor, RAM amount, and video card?

Yeah.

Processor is Intel Celuron 1.7ghtz, Ram is 512mb DDR2, and I have not a clue what my vid card is, but I'll find.

I have the same problem. I'm new and I have played with PS for 4 days without problems. This afternoon I have played 2 hours, then, when I tried to reconnect, during the world loading appeared this message:

Something unexpected happened in planeshift: Crystal Blue Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 6973D1A5

I'm also getting an Exception_Access_Violation at 690A1B7F.  It may be because of the fact that I haven't been able to get the Updater working.  The PS Updater failed in checking the registry version wher it couldn't connect to the mir2, and the mir1 didn't seem to have a version file.

I have an Intel Pentium M 1700MHZ processor
            1.69 GHz
            512 MB of RAM

*edit*

By the way.  How do you take a screenshot and add it to the post?

you don't need to run the updater to play, just ignore the update message and go on
and for that error i suggest turning on vertex buffer objects in setup, in windows go Start-> PlaneShift Crystal Blue-> PlaneShift Setup and find that setting, this needs to be on especially if you got a nvidia graphics card and thouse 69x error numbers i think sais you have so try this

I switched the vertex buffer on but then as soon as I switch to 1st person and walk a bit I got another exception access violation. The same one.

You can take a screenshot in the game by typing /screenshot into your chatbox - the image will be saved into the screenshots folder of where you installed PlaneShift. Although I'm not sure that will catch access violation errors. You could hit Print Screen and take the image into a graphics application and save it there. Alternatively, you may want to look into some free screencapture software. For a guide on how to post images in this forum, take a look here.

Have you checked that your graphics drivers are of the most recent version?

How do you find what type of video card you have on your computer?  I know I have an ATI mobility radeon but I'm not sure which type.

Type dxdiag into the Windows Run command, and look at the Display tab :]
