(news taken from main site)
Few days ago we reached 400.000 registered users! This result represents a big step forward in building a great player community and having PlaneShift as a well known game. We are still working very hard on release 019 and the bugs remaining are few and related to inventory functionalities. We hope to have this fixed pretty soon. All other parts of the game have been tested and are working properly.
i think that you should be in the process of making new servers because its ridiculous for that many people on one server because it gets crowded.
crowded with 200 people /o\ We so much need new server.

Exactly what I was saying, such types of announcements might create false expectations on the newbies who are just seeing PlaneShift  for the first time. Finally, truthful numbers with qualitative information like "overall of 200 users online, but with greater roleplaying focus than any other MMORPG" are better because they make people see things without unrealistic expectatives. And believe it or not. 1337s are attracted by large numbers, because they mean for them: "more n00bs to pwnz LOLOLROFLMAO!!!! >:D"

The server wasn't "full" because it was really full. It just crashed and failed to initialize.

Hey! Can we get back to hyping .19 now?
I bet guildhouses are coming. Maybe storage too.
Perhaps a new area.

And of course, congratulations on the 400.000 milestone :)

TomPhoenix, i think you're wrong. he said "get ready for a ride".
If we're going to Hype 0.19, let's say mounts are coming, like Rivnaks ! Or maybe they changed the character creation (because right now, if your dad is a Legendary Octarch, you can't have a life because you sucked too much Creation Point for the legendary thing). Maybe they fixed Bronze Doors ? Maybe Pet's can stay longer now ? Maybe they fixed some of the incoherence i found in the "Setting" section of the User Manual but can't remember right now...

Anyway, to the devs, thanks for all your dedication and hard work, i'm really impressed by what you've already done "as a hobby"

Personally I'm more excited by what's coming in 020 than in 019 :) But 019 will be great I hope! As for accounts.. well I've always thought that a bit irrelevant. What matters is the average number of users online, to me anyway.

Top secret ;) Well, until code is committed and everyone can read the changelog and guess for themselves.

So you're withholding vital information from us, eh?

You're at the top of my list now, Xordan. I'd watch your back if I were you.  :P

This make me thinking about one question. Does PlaneShift want to be such popular. More players means bigger server load and causes lags and other server related problems.

Sure we want more players - it's always cool to have a large number of people both admiring and having fun with your work :)

Plus the 99%-98% that have accounts but don't play Planeshift anymore.

Pfft. Pessimist!   :P

Nope, I'm being quite optimistic to believe many will return once a truly groundbreaking feature will be released, and that a groundbreaking feature will be released. ;)
Well, i think you're quite right about the players which will return when PS has more nice features...
I'll return then myself :P
but untill then...
