Buddy list google gadget
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:08:50 am »
Users of iGoogle (the google portal):

I hacked together a google gadget to display a buddy list for players in PS. It is mainly for my own use, but if anyone else find it useful, please feel free to use it. You can find it located here:

http://www.faramann.net

Use the user preferences (settings) in order to add your own buddy list. I can also display online members for a particular guild, but have only added my own guild and GMs/DEVs as an option for now.

Just click on the "+Google"-button at the bottom of the buddy list to add the gadget to your own iGoogle page.

I am kind of wondering how that works, if you are looking at it on your google page does it make a server connection and make it appear you are in game?

No, the gadget does not make a server connection directly. Hence, you will not appear as online by using the google page.

nice gadget there, Trymm!

say, the red dots on the map, are those EL members, or marking all the other players being online at all?

greetings!

Those are locations of EL members. Red are off-line, and green are online. However, I only display the location of members who have already made their location publically available. I do not use reverse IP lookup or something like that. :)
