PS disconnecting my modem. :P

Here is my post from the system specs thread, I downloaded the mac version of the game last night using the bit-torrent file:

Computer type (i.e. Powerbook, G4 Tower, etc): eMac PPC G4
Mac OS Version (x.x.x):  10.4.9
Processor (speed, type): 1.47ghz
RAM: 512mb DDR
Video Card (type, VRAM): ATI RAEDON 9600

Planeshift runs (y/n): Not really.

Average FPS: Havent got into the game properly yet.
Platform-specific bugs encountered:

For some reason I cant make a Dwarf with a father who is a famous Weapon Smith. Game crashes if I do. All other options work.

Also I had to turn down the font scaling AND alter the video settings in order to get the game to even TRY to load the game
(just did that thing mentioned under IMPORTANT for intel Macs, seemed to do something).
Then I found I had to be logged in as root/admin in order for the game to load without crashing part way through. (still need the other settings set so it works though)
Now for some reason it disconnects my internet as soon as it loads me into the game. I get to see the city and it pops up the message that the server is busy,
then when the game shuts down the net has been disconnected.
This only happens with this game and the net is normally on for days at a time.

I found this in the logs (right near the end). this is the last thing my comp does before PS shuts down:

Ok solved it. Keeping an IRC window open while playing fixes the problem.
Must be something wierd with my comp.

Now I just have to live with the laaaaggggg O_O

Ok, problem still exists. I can get inot the game and walk around and all, but loads of stuff wont load and I cant interact very well.
Also if the server stops responding when the game shuts down it still disconnects my modem.

The console log always has that little snippet up the top there each and every time.
This is the only program this happens to.
