[ORGANIZATION] Guard of Honour
« on: June 23, 2007, 10:13:28 pm »
Guard of Honour

The guild Guard of Honour was founded to improve the ambience of events with their presence.
We are most of the time inactiv and appear only on events like weddings, balls, tournaments and other appropriate events.

In general we do what the presenter of the event wants us to do.
This could be:

- to look alive
- to escort important persons
- to make an alley fot the guests, or for example for the bridal
couple on their way to the altar
- to welcome the guests of an event regardfully
- to chuck out trouble maker

For this all members wear the same kind of armor, a longsword and a small round shield.

Members

We recruit our members from other guilds. In fact The Guard of Honour is a conjoint project of the two guilds the "Knights of the Crystal" and the "Wings of Honour". But we are looking for other guilds to join us and to provide us with honour guards.

Our members ask their primary guild for time off if we have to perform on an event. After doing their job they return to their guild.
The members of the Guard of Honour are honourable and loyal people.

The rank of a normal member is Honour Guard.

The management

Sir Nemolix (Knights of the Crystal) and Sir Cumeri (The Mercenaries) are the manager of the Guard of Honour. They have the following tasks:
- to provide the members with armor and weapons
- to arrange the performances
- to command the Guard of Honour at their performances

Their rank is Honour Guard Commander.

If you want us to perform on your event just ask Sir Nemolix or Sir Cumeri. [either ingame, per PM or you visit our forum

An organisation to rival the Imperial Guard eh ... well Yliakum does need more disciplined guards. Just hope the lack of difference between the uniforms (OOCly) won't make it confusing.

Considering Cumeri is in charge, I'm assuming you don't have to expect any assistance from the Empire though :P

We have done our first job now. We guarded the Royal Ball from Highness Lolitra. The whole guard thanks her for her accreditation to guard the ball. It was a pleasure and an honour to serve the Royal House this evening.

If you are thinking we had a good performence keep us in mind and ask if we could guard your upcoming event.

Not a criticism to this organization at all, but a general point: we are getting too many guards and too little threats for these guards to defend others from lately, so it becomes almost a ceremonial function, just like those famous guards in the UK.

Yeah, that's what we want to be  O--)

We are called Guard of Honour. That's the reason why.

We already explained our aim before:

What i'd like to know is what you'd do if someone actually attacked an event you were guarding?

Can these guards(and much more importantly, will they) actually fight? Because i know from first hand experiences that some of them decline, decline, decline against anyone stronger than them.

It's an interesting idea though, for those that do not have thier own elite guard. It was pretty neat the way all the guards clustered around me when i showed up. Hehehe...

Of course, we have our own elite guard that we hire out for 'special occasions' as well:

As far I understood it not each Guild is a PvP guild. [Or do you think the Swiss Guard is fighting wars for the pope? :)]

The last event they guarded was the "Royal Ball" and several guilds joined to the "Guard of Honour". I case of trouble several people, me too, would interact. ;)

The guard can fight, Valorius. We have our own prison. We will try to jail trouble makers for the time of the event. As Quantus already mentioned even with the help of other virtuous people.

[We will fight in a RP way, not in a PvP way. PvP is for us only considered to be a last try after trying to fight with words.

You should learn to accept that not everybody is a powerskiller like you. If somebody says to you ooc that he/she does not want to have a duel with you, you should accept this. I think shouting around in brackets that the person who declines to duel is a coward and call him/her in brackets by the name of the character's race is not the way to handle with this, Valorius! You don't need to wonder why much people decline to RP with you. But the topic is about the Guard of Honour, not about a way of thinking about PvP/RP or a presentation of Valorius her dishonourable guildmembers.]

Im not attacking or diminishing your efforts in any way. As i say, i thought you guys did a good job. I'm merely asking a 'what if' question is all. "What if" you're attacked? (could be a good RP opportunity to have a big event attacked, not to mention some guy sitting at home on his PC drinking bacardi breezers might decide it'd be a fun thing to do, hehe)

Upon IG analysis of your characterer that you're referring to, it says "xxxx is about as strong as you". So what are you talking about friend? Are you calling yourself a 'powerskiller'?

I generally think it's bad form to replay IG events here, but...

It's also just plain bad RP to kill a (weak) ally of Valorius (Bensonor) in a PvP duel, and then declare OoC that you dont want to fight someone as strong as you when they come for vengeance (which many did). Let alone to declare OOC harassment. You knew in advance that killing the ally would trigger a response, Valorius told you straight out IC at harns in no uncertain terms in main chat (more than once)- yet you did it anyway (Bensonor, btw, is much weaker than you. Why are you picking on youngins?). Do not blame me for your own IC foolishness and devious OC ploy to escape the IC repercussions that YOU created for yourself.

Many others there the day you are referring to sent me tells during and after the fact, none of which you would find to be flattering.

People should not actively create RP situations, then use OC means to escape the IC repercussions that they themselves created. If you honored your own self-created RP at all, that character of yours would have been taking a trip to DR (or at least fighting several times and winning), cause your IC actions demanded your IC death as a response. But, like so many others, instead of 'losing' you just issue an OoC warning that you're not having fun anymore, and everything is supposed to be honkey-dorey.

So- since YOU brought it up, your actions that day were an affront to good RPing.

Well, Valorius, I don't like to tell the whole story here because I don't want this topic to be a topic of animosity. If you see this as a give-up, do it. I have no need to discuss with you anymore, I suggest to ignore me as you already tried to prompt your guild members and via shouting to nearly all people to do.
A wise man knows when to shut up.

:whistling: pssst, just ignore Valorius  ;)

What does, look alive mean? Do all yourrrr memberrrs look dead all the time?
And, is this morrre of an alliance rrrelated guild then a 'stand alone' one? If not, how can one join without being memberrr of any guild?
and can they be called upon by other guilds and/or people who want to host an event and need a guarrrd? and of course, if they can, how much will it cost them?

edit: [bacardi breezers are for 12 year old kids who think beer is filthy]

'Look alive' means to spring to attention in a military way, for example if we perform an alley for a bridal couple, maybe we even salute for them.
But we have other tasks, too. It depends on what the host want us to do. We accompany in the organisation of the event with the host. We will even chang our guild name to a suited one, so that we will be recognised as the guards of the event. At the roayl ball we walked around and guarded the ball as Royal Event Guard, took the weapons of the guests and looked after the behavour and right dress code of the guests.

We aren't a alliance related guild. Everybody who we appreciate as a capable person can join us to help us with our performances.
[Unfortunaley we were only german speaking members until now because of some intricatenesses of a few members at the very beginning of the project. But I think now we have some experiences how we have to work, so we will be probably be an englishspeaking guard in the guildchat the next time]

We are called 'Guard of Honour'. That means we don't take money for our deployments. If somebody needs a guard for his/her event and calls us we will try to do our best to perform there.
I think it is sure that we only deploy at events that suit to us, means the event and the host has to be honourable.
