In the FAQ of technical problems  we can read :

1. My game locks up when I connect. It just says \"Initializing world\" but Windows says it is not responding!  

This is ok. On some machines, Planeshift believes it needs to recalculate the lighting, which can take up to 2 hours the first time you run. If you let it run to completion, it will load quickly every time after that.

But on my computer It do the same again and again. The game works, no memory problem , but I have to wait at least 30minutes each time I launch the game. Can it be a Win 2K problem?

Also if you lack memory it could be a problem...

I have WIN2000 and 256meg RDram(860mhzPIII) 64meg G3,SB live Value... I too have a 15-30 min \"Initilizing World\" hang up each time i connect.

 I saw the post for the 0.2.007 autopatch patch and tried it. Now that didn\'t seem to do anything (no Quick Start menu). Now when I connect ,same time delay and then the game Locks up at the spawn spot. Chat window appears but none of the key commands work. (im probably not realy connected or some such thing) Nor can I communicate via chat. ?(
