1-When you post a reply or a new thread, instead of going back and showing all the threads, it should go back so you can view your message. Similar to how IPB boards are. I'm pretty sure there's a code somewhere about this, maybe not SMF, but i know there was for phpbb.

That would be what the preview button is for, so you can see how it will look before you post it. Also if you are using the quick reply feature it gives you access to the full posting interface, smilies, tags and whatnot.

when ever i reply it always shows me my message in the thread rather than taking me to the main threads page.

check your user options.  :)
