Limitations
« on: July 10, 2007, 12:48:08 am »
I found out that certain races have limitations to magic e.g Kran, so i think there shouldbe a way for krans to go above these limitations e.g a book of ways , that will allow them to learn above the realms that they have limitation at, on the same issue Krans are made from the rock and they should be more difficult to damage during duels or any sort of fighting. And since the are made from rock the should also have more strength than all other races. I think it is very unfair that Krans have magic limitations but Ylians who have no limitations have the same strength as the Kran who is made from rocks and bigger. Please game developers make things fair on all races and allow them to be able to max evrything, by making books or something that will allow them two. I love the game as it is and i am of the Kran race it really dissappoints me to know that one day i wont be able to max my magic, please take alot of consideration into this matter. Thank you for this wonderful game. :)

Roko,
I'm not flaming your post in no way here but each race has their downfalls
some have high advantages in the begining But wont say what race or what advantages ( only so i dont create a spoiler)
But Krans Infact do handle attacks well compairning to some races
And Krans are strong very strong
only one race i can think of who is stronger at birth
I think this may be why your limited
But Each race is blessed with some gifts and at the same token they also are cursed with their own short comings
It would be unrealistic to make all races have the same abilitys
This is not to say that the Devs have something instore for the Kran race
who knows but from the beginning the races have not been equil
And I doubt this would happen
I would like to see the Enki get the abilities of a Kran

Kran have 'natural armor' which is basicly like having leather armor at birth

though I still wonder is it like lvl 10 leather armor or lvl 20 leather armor?  ???

[edited: I think what I wrote bellow this sentence might be considered a spoiler!! So I removed it. ]

Your asking for extreme magical intelligance and knowledge from a guy who's head is made out of rock?
I think not.  I think that character limitations are there because lets face it. An Enki with the strength of aKran would be a like a Dwarf with the height of Giant.
A Kran with the magical mastering abilities of an Elf would be ridiculous.

Basically your asking for a way to make all characters "uber".
NO thanks.

Silicone... not rock...

But I agree, part of the whole /choose your race thing/ is not for rp purposes only, its also to determin your strengths and weakness.

humans are water (well actually carbon) based, so is celery, doesn't mean humans are made of celery... i would say; one, the leather armor thing is like undamaged leather armor.. which is an item affected by skill re the lvl 10/20 question.. and honesty that's a lil unfair in krans' favor, but it'd be unfair too when one day klyros could see in the dark & such...  two, MOST races seem to have one advantage or another, generally hinted at in race description, thing is klyros still seem to lack advantage far as i know... maybe i'm wrong... three, i'm pretty sure the limit on knans--like a lot that is said in settings--hasn't been implemented.. i imagine you'd suddenly see a lot of krans disappear if it were implemented...

Kran have very tough skin which is indeed even noted as having less flexible bodies and thus much easier to hurt with blunt weapons. They are resistant to slashing weapons.

How about it being like a one person out of a thousand thing. Strange things can happen and birth (e.g. special event) and prodigies can be born from time to time. So perhaps every so many characters created, say 1000, a character is made that has different limits or abilities than the rest of it's race. Not to the point of being overly powerful but different, maybe even slightly more powerful than the rest. Maybe you will have a kran that is good at magic, but doesn't have the natural armor, a trade off kind of deal.  :D

Would people spend the time to reroll characters until they got a rare one, I wonder?

That I can believe. People do it now to get characters who start with higher will. In the end its a waste. Too many people will end up having "special characters" and no one will be special because of it. Same for if you just made a specific sequence of events in character creation that needed to be choosen to get the special character. Soon enough someone would find it then everyone would too try and do it. In the end your just gonna have a lot of "mage kran" or "flying kylcros." Its the same as having lots of "non-mage kran" and "non-flying kylcros."

I was thinking more of a random thing so that people couldn't just choose it. Besides All that would need to be implemented is a limit on how many "special" characters can exist at a time.

If there is a way to make "special rare traits" avoiding exploiters, here is my suggestion for it: Make this "roll" for this random thing on character creation happen only once for each user account, if it fails in the first character one creates, it won't go again. Of course people could create multiple accounts to try again, but if the chance of it was for example 1%, it would be too tiresome and bulky to create hundreds of accounts until it happens. Or perhaps restrict the roll of random rare traits to 4 character creation runs per account, if only 1 is too limiting.

If you want to make something like that a random occurrence make a check for it every hundredth hour that character has spent in game, make it a low probability and if successful allow one racial restriction to be loosened slightly.
