[solved] graphical problems ingame (textures)
« on: July 12, 2007, 07:55:53 pm »
Hello,

I just installed the 3.019 Planeshift on my ubuntu 7.04
I choosed not to use the default installation directory (/opt) and I got the following problem :
 - After login to the server, when choosing my character, it seems that there are no textures on every "3d views"
 - the same in game, ... not very nice :-/

After trying to "tune" configuration, noticed that in the installation directory (mine was /usr/local/games/planeshift), I got another planeshift directory with the "real" game inside (previously I had version 3.018 in the same directory).

It seems that the installer doesn't handle correctly customs installation paths, so I uninstalled and reinstalled in the default directory (/opt) and then everything's working.

Please note that I am not complaining - just giving my feedback  :beta:

Hope this could help somebody

I changed the install path for this update so that people can't do stupid things like install in their home dir, then if they uninstall it removes the home dir :) Instead it installs in a folder called PlaneShift in the install path given. I may change it back if it causes problems though...

I don't say that auto-creating a planeshift subdirectory is a problem, but using a custom installation directory *should* work and in this case.
I think, there is a bug in the installer's custom path handling, because I had the texture problem, like if the game wasn't able to find some resources.

Finally, not a major problem, I just tried to contribute for this great project :)
